Network question
All of our computers are on a router or are wireless. Im working upstairs my wife is downstairs is on wifi and Im hard wired . Is there a way to share files with her instead of ftping them it adds a step

I assume you're using Windows. Right click on any folder that you want to share, go to "Sharing and Security" and choose the option to "share this folder on the network" and "allow network users to change my files". You'll probably want to just do this with the "Shared documents" folder when you open "My computer". Then just browse "My network places" and you'll see the shared drive.

Ben is right on. If you have a firewall you might have to allow for your range of IP numbers.

if you use a wireless router to plug into a wired router and they use different subnets your going to have to create routes that point at each router.

Same situation in my house. Get em all on one network, then share the folders/files in question.

Zone alarm basic doesn't allow FYI you will need to upgrade or use another firewall.
