A RSS/Atom feed is basically just XML content that allows you to see what's new on a site. Check here for more information on why it's important: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rss

You get constant updated content on YOUR site thru a RSS feed ...

Naturally, the site supplying the feed must update ( like msnbc.com... )

So, you're jacking content from other publishers? (ie. msnbc.com, aol.com, etc.)

Isn't that the point of syndication? Smart sponsors are now even offering RSS feeds so that you can automatically have their content displayed on your site.

Where does the "jacking" come in? Are you "jacking" the score of the Yankee game if you tell a friend?

I wasn't aware that it was legal to rip articles from sites like that, especially sites like msnbc.com (just using that as an example). Im only asking because I'd like to know more about rss feeds.

Exactly .. those sites OFFER the feeds ...

You have to understand that often you get the title, a small paragraph, then ' read more ' that brings you to their sites ....

Funny comment coming from people giving porn away ...

So you thought Google and other syndication sites were breaking the law? Heh.

http://news.google.com

There are plenty of idiots on here that will tell you that syndicating is "stealing." If sites didn't want you to syndicate, they'd note that or they wouldn't offer a feed. It's not rocket science.

I use AutoBlogger Pro to pull in feeds to populate my sites with content, so I don't have to.

Depends on the feed, really.
