A question for those of you who use paid hosting.

Whether you use a Virtual package or a Dedicated server, how many of you know for a fact your content is backed up?

Also, if the HD your content is on fails does your host have a backup plan?

We have a 300 Gig Array we named "Ron Jeremy" we use to backup all of our customers data. I'm just wondering if this is standard practice for you other hosts?

keep a copy on your HD.
Then copy that to an external drive
Have at least 2 computers.

If you host deleted everything by accident you have a backup on your HD to upload. If your HD is formatted then the data is still uploaded etc...

What are the odds your host deletes your stuff + your HD fails?
slim to none that will happen at the same time, but if it does, you have your backup comp and external HD or zip disks etc...

That's good idea LoveAsianChicks. I usually burn a copy of valuable files too.

The server I use is raided with another harddrive in case of a failure, so I'd still have time to download if a failure. Keep in mind that if the files are actually deleted, they will be deleted on the other harddrive too.

Cheers,
Matt
