There was also Pantera: Album = Far beyond Driving
Prodigy = Music for the jilted generation
Beasty boys = sabotage
Red hot chili peppers
Tool

Music these days is crappy in comparison with that kind of music. From time to time a new good rockband breaks trough like the vines or the white stripes but that's about it. Seems like it's all about r&b now

Quite a few stone temple pilots and alice in chains songs you can pick.

I would also suggest anything from:
Soul Asylum, especially the "Hangtime" CD
The Replacements
The FIRST Saigon Kick CD
Soundgarden
The Doughboys
Tori Amos "Little Earthquakes" CD amazing
The Lemonheads

i feel EXACTLY the same as you but the good news is, before it was all alternative/rock from like 93-00 and then rap started to take over..hopefully we can swing back to music that isnt factory made.

I agree with the second half of that completely, but I wouldn't really consider those bands you mentioned 'alternative' ; alternative in the 90's to me was the stuff heard on college radio stations that unfortunately I don't recall any names of atm.

man I'd like to have a playlist from a college station around the time grunge rock was popular.

One song i love is Bitter Sweet Symphony -The verve, but there are so many good songs/groups that will be too hard to mention them all.
