Music these days is crappy in comparison with that kind of music. From time to time a new good rockband breaks trough like the vines or the white stripes but that's about it. Seems like it's all about r&b now

I agree with the second half of that completely, but I wouldn't really consider those bands you mentioned 'alternative' ; alternative in the 90's to me was the stuff heard on college radio stations that unfortunately I don't recall any names of atm.
man I'd like to have a playlist from a college station around the time grunge rock was popular.
