TULTITLAN, Mexico - Considered felons by the government, these migrants fear detention, rape and robbery. Police and soldiers hunt them down at railroads, bus stations and fleabag hotels. Sometimes they are deported; more often officers simply take their money.

While migrants in the United States have held huge demonstrations in recent weeks, the hundreds of thousands of undocumented Central Americans in Mexico suffer mostly in silence.

And though Mexico demands humane treatment for its citizens who migrate to the U.S., regardless of their legal status, Mexico provides few protections for migrants on its own soil.

the problem in mexico, is money. the money is in the hands of the very few, so the workers, including cops, make money they way they can. they take it.

A cop in Tijuana makes about 150$ a week. yet a nice appartment is about 600$ a month.

So, they make the extra anyway they can.

The demographic change in America is the equivelent to not bothering to fight a war because you couldn't be fucked working in a factory. Exactly why I could see another civil war happening. I don't think that will happen. Immigration has always been considered a problem in the US, but over time everyone seems to forget about it and focus on the newest immigrant group instead.

I don't understand how all of the sudden, overnight, immigration become the US's #1 issue (according the politicians and the media.) We are years past september 11th and its not like half of the immigrants walked over the border last year.
