TULTITLAN, Mexico - Considered felons by the government, these migrants fear detention, rape and robbery. Police and soldiers hunt them down at railroads, bus stations and fleabag hotels. Sometimes they are deported; more often officers simply take their money.

While migrants in the United States have held huge demonstrations in recent weeks, the hundreds of thousands of undocumented Central Americans in Mexico suffer mostly in silence.

And though Mexico demands humane treatment for its citizens who migrate to the U.S., regardless of their legal status, Mexico provides few protections for migrants on its own soil.

the problem in mexico, is money. the money is in the hands of the very few, so the workers, including cops, make money they way they can. they take it.

A cop in Tijuana makes about 150$ a week. yet a nice appartment is about 600$ a month.

So, they make the extra anyway they can.

The problem may be the same, but the thing in the US Mexicans are the largest minority. It gives them lots of power. If people from South America were a majority as important as in the US it would be the same.

btw I am from Mexico, and I can tell from first hand that cops are as corrupt as hell.

Unless the white population starts having children at the same rate as hispanics which is over twice the national average, eventually hispanics will be the majority in the US and whites will become the minority.

That's why they are becoming an importanr factor in the US politics since now.

Really it is a demographic war as KRL pointed out. Not that you need to kill anyone or beat anyone into the ground, but in reality US politicians and white people as a whole in the US have becomming a bunch of weak pussies.

The demographic change in America is the equivelent to not bothering to fight a war because you couldn't be fucked working in a factory. It will change alot more than people realise, and America in 100 years won't hardly resemble what it does today. But hey, who cares, as long as there is some long drawn grain of economic explanation for allowing it right?

Instead you're left with a situation in which an entire population will hand over their country because they are a) too lazy to do anything and b) to scared to be called racist in the event that they oppose the changes that are happening.

I don't think that will happen. Immigration has always been considered a problem in the US, but over time everyone seems to forget about it and focus on the newest immigrant group instead.

I don't understand how all of the sudden, overnight, immigration become the US's #1 issue (according the politicians and the media.) We are years past september 11th and its not like half of the immigrants walked over the border last year.
