Nope, they changed the laws beginning of 2006, it's now $130 per check, before that it was $17 per check and 1 week hold of the money, thats abit high too but I could live with it, but $130 and 4 weeks hold is just insane so I told my bank to go fuck themselves. I also went to 4 other banks they said the same thing, I want to burn down every bank I see accually.....

I used checks before and spent 7.50 euros and 15.00 euros as fees for checks over 300$ repectively. that's too fuckin expensive... haven't thought about that tax issue whatsoever... seems like I got to do some explaining then... ;)

If wires were free, I would never use checks again... depositing checks doesn't take a lot of time, but it's still wasted time...

if you need the money now your business skills must not be that great. i like checks, i save them all up over the course of a month then take them in. don't see how you could lose them. put them somewhere safe. much easier to keep books with checks too. with epass you don't have stubs and with wires its almost impossible to tell where its from as with my bank at least all its shows is a bunch of numbers beside the amount. i can't transfer money straight from epass to my bank since im in canada, and wires cost 25-50 bucks a shot.

You can use the visa card and just take the money out at the ATM.

true, just adds an extra step as i would usually have to go into my bank and deposit it after taking it out of the atm. i still have to get one of those electron cards, they would in handy im sure.

but I also don't like getting checks from overseas cause it cost me an arm and a leg to cash them.
also don't like bounced checks
so epassporte is my favorite way to go right now.

wtf man i bank w/scotia and just put my checks in the machine and they issue a correction in a few days for the exchange difference

no account transfers. that sounds difficult.

for example:

With my tgp's i sell ok with some CCbill sponsors, the ratios are not bad (1:189 and 1:550 and 1:380) so i would be silly not to using them anymore. However, I am going to receive my 1st check within a couple of days with the amount of 57 bucks so I have to pay 15 bucks fee over that.

The check with the next payment will be 80 bucks or so, so I will have to pay another fucking 15 bucks again.

Thats just sick!!!

The only thing I can to about it, is promoting CCBill sponsors even more. Paying 15 bucks over 200 dollars is not as heavy as 15 bucks over a 60 dollar check!

your getting one shit deal, in england it is a charge of $15 and you get the money straight away, however there is the 4 week wait, but if your cheque bounces, then they take the money away from your account

The bank I do this at is National Bank. But my other bank is Scotia, and I've asked them before how I would best do it there. They do have fees, you best go check into what kind of fees they are charging you... because you are being charged fees, I can guarantee it.

i do the same thing cdsmith does, its no more difficult than 3 or 4 clicks of a mouse with online banking. i don't trust putting US checks into the machines.

I can honestly say that in the 8 years I've been in this business, not once has any of my cheques from US sponsors ever bounced.

Not once.

My bank puts no hold at all on them.

same here, though its more like 7 and 1/2 for me. once in a while a teller wanted to put a hold on my cheques, i guess its what they do usually so they put a note on my account saying not to hold.
