KimmyKim - Question
This has nothing to do with CCBill, but I'm sure you will have an answer.
![]() My hosting company sucked and after my were down for over a week in April, I cancelled my account and switched hosting companies April 16th. Because of the 7 days my sites were down, I asked them to credit my card back for three weeks of April. Not only have they not done that but they also billed me again for May and do not answer emails regarding this. Now, here's the question. If I charge that back, will it affect my ability to use that credit card on the net due to that chargeback?? Thanks, RD |

Im pretty sure you get on all sorts of blacklists once you chargeback something.

haha, I don't worry about blacklists too much, I'm already on most of them anyway. I know CC processors scrub hard and I think they are looking for chargebacks, but what if it is a legitimate chargeback, how would the processing company know?
My guess is the scrubbing system wouldn't know the difference between a legitimate chargeback and a BS chargeback and that it will affect me. I have other credit cards, I just like doing all my business on one. RD |

Does the scrub just check the card number or will it reject me with another card because of my name?? Didn't think about that. Kind of sucks to be penalized for a legitimate chargeback where you've made every effort to take care of it the right way. RD oops, didn't do the quote tags right. |

The card being blacklisted, I could live with. If it goes by name also and will affect any other cards I use then I will just take the hit I guess. RD |

Well, it would depend on who processed the initial charge and what sort of scrub base they use.
Was it on the hosts own merchant account? Have you let them know that if they don't at least answer you then you will have no reason but to charge back? You're getting a bum deal if what you say is exactly what happened, and the reason for most legitimate chargebacks is poor customer support, no doubt. As to your question about your name and other info becoming part of a blacklist it's possible -- for instance with CCBill scrub, we don't use a negative card database, we track other information about the user. It's just too easy for someone to use a different card and keep on charging back. Not such a hot answer I know, but it's the best I can tell you -- |

That's what I was afraid of. My wife pays the bills so I'm not sure who was billing me. I guess I'll just take the hit and chalk it up to "if it sounds to good to be true it probably is".
Thanks for the answer Kimmy. RD |

That sucks RD. I'd at least have your wife go thru the card statement and call the support number that should be on the line item.
If it's not the host's own merch acct, most likely the biller will give you a credit. |

One of the best ways to put a lid on so-called friendly fraud. The addition of cvv2 becoming mandatory shortly means that online processors will indeed have proof that the card was in hand at the time of purchase, or at least proof enough to satisfy the cc companies -- meaning that the cb rate on porn sites will drop by a good margin, since friendly fraud will be virtually eliminated. Those that have legitimate complaints about a product or service they purchased aren't in that category, nor should they be imho/ |
