NSF check: any suggestions?
Its been a while since I last had to deal with a bouncing check from a client, so I'm wondering if anyone has any surefire suggestions how to extract the funds from this little prick.
At this stage I'm not inclined to go the route of small claims court since it'll cost me more time, money and aggravation to jump through legal hoops. Anyone? Got a good intimidation method that's worked for you in the past? |

Via your bank, you can send the check on collection. It will cost you about $40+ but this way, it goes on record in their credit files as a second default. Make sure to keep a copy front and back.

www.rcklockbox.com will do electronic representment for you for free. You have to open an account with ITI Internet Services in order to use them, and the acct with ITI is $99 but there is no charge to use RCK after you open the acct. It works about 70% of the time for me.

I phoned the guy (just an 18-yr-old kid) and left a voice message advising him I've been in touch with the head of our local fraud squad - and that the race was on who'd be the first to show up at my door.
Its BS of course, but the kid likely won't know that. The head detective on the fraud squad IS a good acquaintance of ours...but I know they won't do nothin' since its a civil matter. Awaiting his response... |
