donate and gfy rarely go together . ill try to keep bumping this

p.s. to those who may think their little donation doesnt count , it will.

The government cant get anything done because the beaurocracy makes things take to long.

People on gfy ( or on the internet in general ) seem to be very skeptical.. so maybe if you gave us your game plan it might help..

Like if send a chainsaw lets say, where does it go and who gets it , and such..

I'm all for donations , but i dont want to send stuff that will just sit in a pile and get pilfered by people that dont need it .. i remember after the tsunami they had to burn huge piles of clothes because they had to many and they were rotting and such

i think it is great what you are doing, but most of the items on your list were needed 6 months ago, not now.

Cash is always needed

Here is what people can really do to help.
-call your local congressman and urge them to push the govt to allocate more money to the area.
-come down and volunteer to help gut houses.
- take a trip here and spend money, tourism revenue helps a lot.
- donate money to charities like red cross.

thats pretty much about it.

That helps a lot, good points. If any of you guys are interested in a fishing trip in Venice, Louisiana I can send info.

localg filled the papers for a non-profit organization to help fishermen families. If you donate throught "us" you'll see whats happening to your donations. We post pictures and videos.

Don't get me wrong, localg donated money to Red Cross before going to Louisiana and we had a red cross banner on our network.

What they need the most is to get their boats fixed and back to the water so can work. They need fiberglass cloth, plywood, resin, fishing tackle, shrimp nets.

Donating to smaller groups that are out doing things first hand is ALWAYS better than flinging money at the Red Cross. Big charities have big ass bills and very little actually goes where needed.

In september I went to volunteer in MS/LA for a month, and then I came home, and wanted to go back so I got a few friends to move there with me for another month and a half.

This car was on a road heading uptown to the garden district on the way to our apartment from down town.

This was a picture taken of our neighbors house from the stairs leading upto our apartment. (yes thats an entire wall missing)

True.

Guys, don't blame the government or wait for someone, a company or a group of people to help.

YOU can make a difference. $2 worth of stuff helps.

hey, I live and work in the new orleans area and actually have a crew working VERY close to Venice. In addition to living here I am doing work related to the clean up efforts and can tell you that no one needs 90% of whats on your list. Ok maybe a hand full of people, if that. If anything all of these volunteers coming down here who are living in tents probably need that stuff more so then the local residents. The locals either are backing living in their homes, renting, living with family, or got their fema trailer. 95% of the area (or more) has electricitiy, etc.

will76, I'll post a message from localG below:

Hey will, I think you need to step away from GFY once or twice a week. I have been working down there since Oct 15th. I work in 2 places, 1 being New Orleans with Phillip and Jordan and I also work down in Venice.
I would like to invite you to come with me one day. I'm guessing you just drive around and don't look into situations. People need everything even though its six months later people need everything you can think of. Water well there is tons of bottled water around. But generators are still a big thing. One if you read my site we are helping commercial and sport fishermen down here. Most all boats run generators and fuel. Fuel is not always available down there. Harts exxon closes some days and also has run out of fuel many times.
Just because a trailer comes from FEMA it does not mean you will get a meter for weeks so you can get the keys.
A group from Sportfishermen.com came down a week or so ago with chain saws, tools, 3 campers, and shit loads of supplies. We raised enough money to fix a families boat so they will be shrimping for the may season and earning money for their family.
You really need to wake up man there are tons of great people out there and they can use any help that comes to them.
Now I would love to meet you if your down in buras or boothvilles or venice or hell I'm also up around the nineth ward a few days a week.
If you want to help me why dont you come run some heavy equipment with me.
Over the last 5 days I have demolished 30 plus homes down there for free so people could get trailers on their land by may season. I have 150 more homes to do starting next wednesday when I get back in town. I will show you first hand why alot of supplies can help. Also I would love to get some more help with cleaning up properties. I supply all the equipment and fuel out of my own pocket. Figure this: 30 homes helped most likely 60 to 100 people get a chance to move back onto there land and any of the supplies listed above will help them get rolling.
I wish you well man. And hey I must say I donated thousands to any porn people who needed help over the years and I must say I have found out that 4 years of porn and millions of dollars pushed around to so called friends and only 3 of the people I have meet over 4 years had the kindness to check in on me. To all those that acted like my friend for years to get traffic and money GO FUCK YOURSELVES

To anyone that does care and wants to help please contact me all money and supplies donated goes 100% to the people and projects down there.
Peace out
John

I think it is great what you are doing but you dont know me, o don't tell me to wake up or step away from the computer. I spend more time out in the field then i do online. Not too mention I rode out the hurricane, i was without electricity for 30 days, i lost houses, family lost houses in the hurricane. I was in Buras last week with my crew all day, I have made several trips down the river. I know what it looks like down there. My company has also delivered a couple thousand fema trailers across southeast louisiana. I have a crew working in the ninthward right now. I have been here since the day it hit. I know what is going on, I am not just visiting. And i have donated thousands, particularly toys for kids before christmas. Please don't preach to me or start a pissing war with me over this, like i said i think you doing a good thing, but what the people really need are the things i mentioned. Sure you can find a few cases here and t here where some people might need a few things on your list but the majority don't need anti-diarrhea medicine or a lot of the stuff that is on your list.

The people who are down there are tough and are down there because they want to be. Fema has provided temp. housing, fema trailers, rental assistance, hotel rooms, etc... people have a place to go if they want to. The particular breed (those in the seafood industry) are tough, and are down there roughing it to get their business going. If you want to help them buy some seafood from them, don't donate a pair of Tweezers. Or go down their and volunteer to help them, physically rebuild. they could use a hand, not a roll of duct tape. But I guess something is better then nothing, the items i mentioned are the best things people can do to help.

that's awesome and that is the stuff i am talking about that can help, the stuff on your list is trivial and like i said was big issue the first month or two after the hurricane.

sorry i call bullshit on that. maybe streaching the truth a little there. 30+ houses you demolished in 5 days. It would be very tought to physically do that, 6+ houes a day!!? You should have waited till i posted that i am in the business and working down there before you posted that. So how you find these 30 houses, drive up and down the street with your track hoe and people waving you down, come tear down my house. There is so much bullshit that goes into it before any houses can be touched. I SERIOUSLY doubt they letting joe blow ride up and down the street knocking houses down for people.

I have crews working under ECC in Plaquemines. I have my badge to get down there that I got at the bellechase police station, I have crews working under P&J / Omni in Orleans Parish, I had crews working in St. Bernard and I had crews deliver FEMA trailers in Jefferson and Orleans through Shaw. I need to get some sleep for a 6am safty meeting, please don't bullshit people here.

Please read the threads on the Katrina / Rita forum, watch the videos and view the pictures before "calling bullshit"

Ugh it's horrible that a nice thread such as this can somehow be turned into an excuse for people to fight and call each other liars. Anyhow, Jer I would love to donate some items. Please let me know how to proceed. Thanks.

i don't need to read a Katrina message board to know what is going on down there. You can just point me to the video of him tearing down 30 houses, or 1 house for that matter.

Unless you know this guy and totally trust him I wouldn't send anything to him. Send it to the sportsman site or a recognized charity. This goes for anyone not just this person in particular. Lots of scamers out there. I don't know this guy maybe he is legit, but what he says does not jive to what I SEE down there and know what is taking place there. Maybe he is legit and exaggerating the truth to get people to send more for the cause, or for personal attention, or it could be a scam, who knows. So far all I have seen here is hotlinked pictures from sportsman site and general info that anyone here could have found on the net. I hope it's for real, people need to be carefull before they just send anything, you need to know who you sending to. Or you could do the things I suggested previously.

localg used to run a dating affiliate program, I worked for him. He's now out of adult and I work with him on Sportfishermen.com

If you took the time to read before posting you would have noticed I'm the moderator there.

I'm in Brazil, I doubt someone would send stuff down here to help people in Louisiana. Tons of GFYers know localG in person. I'm here since GFY started.

You ask for a video of him tearing down houses after I posted a link to lots of pictures. You want to "call bullshit" on everything so you can't click or read anything.

I appreciate the bumps.

It's 3:30AM here, I'm going to bed.

Just so you know will you can call all the bullshit you want people that know me know that i have always helped people , I gave lots of money to people right here on gfy over the years .

I just finished the stump extraction contract for pandj /omni through d-1 through d 26 now that its done i will be full time down south and hope to do 60 to 80 homes a week. I have another machine being donanted to me and is on the way from florida. So if you dont think this equipment can do 6 to 10 houses a day then you have no clue about equipment . Double wide trailers and single wides take about 1 hour and i can work 12 hours a day since i dont work for ecc or the core or ameritech or par or pro tree or cuzane they all just follow around like puppy dogs waiting for the piles to come to the road. So please let me know what crews are yours and i wont push to them . Hate to see you act like a dick to me then end up giving you a few thousand yards a week.

Peace out will give me a call if you want to see for your self . 609 254 5573

LocalG, Will talks out of his ass constantly. Pretty much everyone that's been here for more than 6 months knows who you and Jer are. Even if you posted a video dated and timestamped demolishing 30 homes he's the type of person that would claim you faked the video to get free tweezers. Don't even worry with it man and good stuff you're doing down there.

Are you in Tucson, Arizona?

We don't have any drop off locations on the west coast or people who could pick it up. Please let me know if you could ship the items to Louisiana.
If you can't I appreciate your intentions to help.
