How long does it take you to shoot a set of pictures?
I was looking thru some of my sets today as I'm getting them ready for shipment to the Twistys office and I noticed that each pic has a date and time that the pic was taken. I was curious to see how long it takes me to shoot a set of pics and I couldn't believe it. Most of my sets are done inside of 15 minutes...I had no idea. It never occured to me to time myself shooting a set of pics.
The time consuming aspects of what I'm doing is not taking the pictures but instead, getting everything setup to actually do the shoot. Hair/makeup for the model, styling the set, setting up/fine-tuning and testing the lighting, picking out the models wardrobe etc..etc. Taking the actual picture set is the easiest, fastest and the most exciting part of the process for me. Getting everything ready to shoot the set is the slow and time consuming part of the process. Anybody else notice this on their shoots? |

15 mins of actual shooting is about right for me too. It's the setup that takes the time.

15 minutes for me as well. Setup, changing, getting to location usually takes 30 minutes.

The actual shoot? About 80-100 shots in 20 minutes. The most time consuming part is set-up, makeup/hair, and post processing for the web.

I usually do 150-200 pics per set, takes 20-25 min I guess. I rather have 200 pics to choose 100 from than 100 pics to choose 90 from

Depends what I'm shooting. If I'm shooting solo girl amateur fun stuff 15 to 20 minutes is fine. If I'm shooting a multi girl set for a magazine it can take over an hour.
Shooting commercial porn is not a race, it's about how much you sell the work for. I have had days I made $20,000 doing two scenes. And I've had days I made $500. On film depending on the scene I shoot between 3 and 20 rolls. On digital between 80 and 200 frames, depends again on the scene. |

Typically I book for 3-hour shoots, and usually get about 300 shots - with 2-3 setup/outfit changes inbetween.
Since we shoot bondage/fetish, the setup time is much longer than non-bondage, of course. Sometimes an intricate shibari rope tie can take 15-20 mins., or a complicated suspension can eat up a lot of time also. |
