You can still eat the foods you like, just in very very small quantities. You'll learn that sugar-free foods, for the most part, have MORE carbs than the regular product. Try to avoid foods with sugar alcohol and/or Sorbitol, Mannitol or Mallitol. They're affectionately called Turbo Lax.

If you're taking a pill, you're either Type 1.5 or Type 2. Follow the regimen, watch the diet, exercise and you'll be fine.

One thing to remember, your sugar will almost always spike high if you're sick and there isn't much you can do except get well quick.
Glucophage i was prescribed

A1C was around 15 if I recall

15??? Whoa nelly, you've got a lot of work ahead of you. 4.5-6.0 is "normal".

Follow a careful diet, exercise, take your meds and you'll be fine.

Too bad I hope I dont' get it. I got one of those things when my dad was diagnosed a few years ago, just to make sure. I had some of the symptoms, like excessive thirst(I drink a ton of pop, tea and some coffee though it's probably cuz I like caffeine and it is a diuretic so I want to drink more). I tested myself for a couple weeks and it looked ok, but I went to a doctor and talked to him about it. He said I was probably ok because of the meter readings. Maybe I should have taken the blood test though. I try to exercise more and eat better since then.

Thats some serious stuff, having diabetes can result in serious health problems later on in life

If you don't take it serious it can result in

Blood vessel damage within the eye (retinopathy). This can lead to blindness.

Kidney disease (nephropathy) or kidney failure.

Nerve damage (neuropathy) especially of the hands and feet, causing tingling, numbness and weakness.

Narrowing of the blood vessels due to fatty deposits (atherosclerosis). This increases the risk of heart attack, stroke and poor blood flow in the legs.

I know because my dad has had diabetes for 30 years, his health problem is the last one i listed, his blood vessels are so bad now because of diabetes that he can't even have a triple heart bypass.

Diabetes is by no means a death sentence but if you do not take it seriously then your going to be seriously risking your health in the future.

Take care of yourself

That sucks, take good care. My aunt's husband went blind, then lost a leg to diabetes.

bro I have had diabetes for 5 years now and am on insulin and pills. Learn to eat proper keeping your carb intake to under 60 per meal - cut out shit like smoking / alcohol and you'll be fine. When I was first diagnosed my reading was over 30 now I am balanced at 6 to 7 and still eat most of what I want.

moderation and will power and you can lead a normal life - hit me up if you want to talk and have a coach but it's not that bad.
