Any DJs here? Need hardware advice...

Denon new S1000s small cheap shitload of effects are they ok? I know Pioneer rocks but I wanna get back (had SLs looooooong ago), mainly for @ home, maybe fitness once a week or so and the occasional party. Nothing major.

thanks

you want a dj mixer that is cheap, but will give you the most bang for your buck? grab one of these: http://www.behringer.com/DJX700/index.cfm?lang=ENG

I have one and I can say it is the best $170 I spent on dj shit in the last year...LOL....they are so cheap it is almost like disposable..but if you really aren't going to be putting it through hell, it makes a perfect home mixer with all the bells and whistles the Pioneer has, but for a fraction of the price

numark is cool, but not worth the money when it comes to mixers

but yes, Denon has ALWAYS been a solid brand that rarely fails

technics turntables, rane mixer and mic is all i will touch. live percussion or other acoustics are also fine with me- but not the rest of these digital assists that are ruining the game. these guys are not dj's they are button-pushers these days. there are few dj's left

I know I know... i was raised with SLs too but you gotta move along. Vinyl is cool and will always be THE dj item, but Im lookin for a small setup not for another room full of 1000s of records.

Theres a lotta good stuff now available on download (legal) just bought some hardhouse not bad at all.

Funny to see how theyre remixing old chicago house stuff again.

that tool was used by clinton sparks at the last player's ball and it held up our start time by 45 minutes due to technical issues. clinton turned around and reached for a record from my cases instinctually and then told me he misses vinyl. he also said that when you travel the world it is a lot easier with the serato and a handful of records. nonetheless- these units are in fact making clubs homogenous

i've played with a lot of famous dj's and they all lose their luster when you realize they really are just button-pushers.

I know a lot are, look at the famous DJs from Holland, then again its the time for those guys and theyre making a fortune too, like it or not...

But youre right, any guy with a simple keyboard a pc and can make some loops edit stuff and release a track, if the public likes it and it hits the billboards youre in, that never happened 20 yrs ago but like I said times change

all i use is vinyl. no cds. i'm against that shit for live performance. i never in my life released a mix cd that wasn't recorded live on two decks until flashcash mix cd that they are giving away in phoenix. half of its live mix and half is sutdio mix. never again will i release a cd that is not 100% influenced by a crowd. so since i'm retiring, looks like people better hold onto the thousands of bootleg live mixes i slung all over san diego and l.a.

</cheesy smile>
