Any DJs here? Need hardware advice...
Denon new S1000s small cheap shitload of effects are they ok? I know Pioneer rocks but I wanna get back (had SLs looooooong ago), mainly for @ home, maybe fitness once a week or so and the occasional party. Nothing major.
thanks :thumbsup http://denondj.com/prodview_item.asp?pid=1&cid=1 http://www.8thstreet.com/images/denon.DN-S1000.jpg |
the denons are great, I have one myself and love it...I also know tons of dj's who use only the denons and I have never heard a problem

I DJd long ago but lookin at a guy who had nice Pioneers made me itchy again... Looked up some stuff and Numark still seems the ok to go mixer, these Denons are cool, amazing what they have 1000s track points, scratch, seemless loops etc a lot for the money Denons always been a solid brand true. thanks :) |

I have one and I can say it is the best $170 I spent on dj shit in the last year...LOL....they are so cheap it is almost like disposable..but if you really aren't going to be putting it through hell, it makes a perfect home mixer with all the bells and whistles the Pioneer has, but for a fraction of the price numark is cool, but not worth the money when it comes to mixers but yes, Denon has ALWAYS been a solid brand that rarely fails |
you should talk to Airek or Krosh
|
those are good. i recommend them for sure.
i am officially retired from djing though. not sure my opinion matters much anymore. done as much djing and clubbing stuff as i am prepared to do. time to focus on my businesses now. now if i could just stop partying like a banshee! :1orglaugh. |
Man I had a couple of SL1200's back in the day. Good times...

technics turntables, rane mixer and mic is all i will touch. live percussion or other acoustics are also fine with me- but not the rest of these digital assists that are ruining the game. these guys are not dj's they are button-pushers these days. there are few dj's left :(

i've played with a lot of famous dj's and they all lose their luster when you realize they really are just button-pushers. |

But youre right, any guy with a simple keyboard a pc and can make some loops edit stuff and release a track, if the public likes it and it hits the billboards youre in, that never happened 20 yrs ago but like I said times change |

all i use is vinyl. no cds. i'm against that shit for live performance. i never in my life released a mix cd that wasn't recorded live on two decks until flashcash mix cd that they are giving away in phoenix. half of its live mix and half is sutdio mix. never again will i release a cd that is not 100% influenced by a crowd. so since i'm retiring, looks like people better hold onto the thousands of bootleg live mixes i slung all over san diego and l.a.
