I bought into COP, going to buy more, I may pick up XLE as you suggested, I have to look into it. Its great my oil stocks are going up, but it sucks because everything else I own is going down The right play would be to pick up oil, use the profits to then pick up everything else which was hammered down a little. :2cents

Im into MSFT big..

hoping to play off the xbox 360 hype. i may reconsider with re cooling off, and higher oil. 6 months ago i expected the economy to be a lot better, everyone going out and buying the xbox360 during the xmas season, etc.. i may actually swap some out of MSFT and back into COP.

You are correct but if you look at the long year chart you can see that it Has seriously KICKED ASS !

http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=EWZ&...=on&z=m&q=l&c=

I bought more today at 32 another 20,000 shares I am sitting on 95,000 right now a bunch I bought at 20ish

EEM is also good more diverse and safer play than EWZ but not rocking as much.. OR EFA is also ok foreign play.

Are we headed to Inflation and Recession..... STAGFLATION ?

Check out GLD (GOLD) new 17 month highs its been rocking hardcore.. Inflation ? I think it looks that way

i expected a run up to 30-31...
but with oil so high, and re settling down, i think the economy is heading towards a downward turn. i see oil at $90 a barrel, gas at $4.50-5/gallon inside the next 12 months.

that means people won't be buying those xbox 360s.

oil and gas come before $600 game consoles (i think its $600) i dont buy all this stuff with oil so high, people will consume less. we are too dependent on oil, and people wont cut their usage. what will be cut are the luxury items.. like expensive video game consoles. no?

yeah I have been in GLD for a month or so, I am up only 7%, but I got some other plays like FCL (up 40%), GDVE (up 43%), and VLO (up 40%) for me, so far all my stocks are in the green except for some no change ones. Earlier today I picked up some options for XOM hoping Rita will drive it up, I also have some MSFT jan call options hoping to play the xbox360, but economy is something to watch, but they also are releasing in europe, etc...
Gonna check out XLE and CX, I was so fucking mad I stalled on katrina with CX, I could have made like 1000%, but only made 100% and did a small play.. meh...

that might not go up till 2007. could see a pullback from current levels before msft goes up. a good join venture could sent the stock higher before that time tho.

i like msft tho

russia, japan and latin america would make a nice international portfolio. latin america had a nice run last year from the funds i selected. asia ex japan could be good as well as long as its not gung ho china but more broad asia. canada and australia could do well. the canadian dollar rides gold, so you have a double whammy with canada. but if you're into a lot of US oil companies a broad canadian index fund might overexpose you to oil companies. canadian junior mining stocks could be good merger plays as the larger companies look to increase gold reserves.

05 was all about international and commodities, that should continue this year. selected tech stocks could do well like LLTC.
