![]() This Thursday I'm scheduled to go in for the 'zap'. I'm having the new Lasik surgery where they use a laser instead of a blade to create the corneal flap before they zap my eye. Who's had it? What were your results?

I had it done almost 2 years ago, totally worth it and I would do it again in a milisecond.
No adverse effects whatsoever. DH |

It's definitely worth doing. Just a word of advice, follow what the doctor is saying and focus on the benefits. I don't want to go into details cuz I don't want to freak you out. Just relax your mind and do it. The fresh vision is worth the hassle.

I have had lasek 8 months ago.
Lasek is almost the same as Lasik. The difference is you have to wear a protective lens for 3 days after surgery. The surgeon made a mistake and planted one of the lenses inside out. This gave me a horror night with a lot of pain. I dont regret doing it though cause right now my vision is still perfect and it is hard to believe I ever had lenses.

one side effect of lasik is your gonna have dry eyes for life as lasik cuts the tear ducts in the eyes. Also night driving is a problem for some as people report halo effects from lights from cars and street lamps.

I had it done 6 years ago in New York. There is no pain involved, you will only feel some pressure during the procedure, also you will experience blurry vision for a short time, bring someone to drive you home. As far as my results, I have perfect vision with no side effects, it's the best thing I ever did

I did my lasik operation 2 years ago and here is what I can tell you.
The operation is safe well like any other operation because if you do not qualify they won?t allow you to have it done. The operation takes less than 20 seconds for each eye The feel is strange mostly fear but no pain at all As soon as the operation is done you can immediately see, it was the best feeling to look at the clock they had and be able to see the time. You feel some heat in your eye and that?s about it. Afterwards the feeling is like wearing contacts for 24 hours. You feel them dry and like a small piece of sand in your eyes. But less than a week you won?t feel anything. My advice: 1: Relax. The more stressed you are the more you might move 2: do NOT move. I moved a bit and had one eye that took a bit longer to heal 3: follow the instructions given to you. Like ear the glasses, put the eye drops even if you do not feel you need them. 4: Do not rub your eyes; you might damage them because it is not completely healed 5: be careful when you sleep because you might hit your eyes. Try to sleep with the protectors on. Afterwards: After the operation you need to stay away from the sun for a few months. You will need time to get use to seeing without contacts. The strangest thing is when you are driving at night or looking at a bright light. You will see the light with streaks lol funny feeling. You will see blurry from time to time and not all the time but trust me it takes time for your eyes to heal, let a year pass before you start worrying but I am sure you will forget about it a month later. Good luck and here are some pics.

i had it done a couple of months back
totally worth it i love it, the whole thing took less than 10 minutes total for both eyes not sure about the laser cut they used that rotating blade to cut my eye... that was painless but pretty weird (just knowing they're slicing open your eye) if you havent done it heres what they do for each eye 1. go in and get numbing drops in the eye 2. sit back focus on a green light, they place some vacuum like thing over your cornea and it sucks your eye into place... your vision goes grey/black here 3. they put this little round 'bit' (for lack of a better word) into the part that sucked your eye into place and then turn it making the cut in your eye (you hear clicking) 4. you get rolled under the laser, focus on a red light then the doctor lifts the flap up and the light gets really blurry 5. laser clicks for like 2-3 seconds 6. drops added, flap placed over and smoothed out, more drops and its done you may notice a slight smell like burning hair almost quick n easy, i would do it again in a heartbeat

Guys, read this:
LASIK is a surgical procedure intended to reduce a person's dependency on glasses or contact lenses.LASIK stands for Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis and is a procedure that permanently changes the shape of the cornea, the clear covering of the front of the eye, using an excimer laser.

I want Lasik soo bad but my doctor refuses to do it for me because the vision to my right eye is unrepairable and they won't take any risks with my only "good" eye. So it's contacts for me forever. Good luck to you!

About time you're getting it done
![]() I did mine here in Costa Rica and couldn't be happier with the results - definately worth the money!! I don't even have halos at night, though it seems it is common for some people to get those. You will wonder how you ever lived with contacts/glasses for so long once it's done.

Im heading to the local clinic in Daytona Beach next week for an exam to make sure i can get it.
Should be interesting because last time i checked i was told because i have an astigmatism in my right eye i wouldnt be able to have the procedure, now though im told even with an astigmatism it shouldnt be a problem. Regards, Lee |
