... Woke up in the middle of the night. Doors opening and closing, and footsteps. Sounds like someone was walking around just outside my bedroom. My gf was lying right next to me, but she slept like a stone. So I was so scared that I hardly slept this night. And this isn't the first time I have heard noises in this house...

How about you guys? Heard or seen anything like this?

What drugs do you take ??

Nah but seriously, a friend of mine ended up moving house not too long ago.

He basically had the same prob, footsteps in other rooms, doors opening and closing.

I went over one night, there was 4 of us watching tv downstairs. We heard someone clear as day upstairs, and the doors that were closed, we all open...

many years back I lived in a basement apartment - woke up feeling hands around my throat and watched a book fly off my library - spin around in mid-air and burst apart.

Ghosts and everything that has to with it are explainable. Most of it is in your head anyway. Its usually weak minded people who have ghost problems.

Anyway. Often Asked and never answered:

MILLIONS of people claim to see ghosts, ghost activity, talk to them or whatever else and not 1 person can prove it. Not ONE. Not krl. nobody.

Can we have a big for the simple minded people.

Well... I don't really belive in it either, but I would really like to know what made those noises. I was fully awake. I don't take medicine, I didn't drink last night...

This shit is kinda hard to prove...

Can't blame people who've never had a ghost experience for laughing.

But if you ever have one, your laughing will end.

To say there's no such thing as ghosts says that you believe we understand everything about how dimensions work.

And that's just silly, imho.

Ghosts don't have to be dead people walking around because their spirits are tied to this mortal coil, or some shit... they can be anything.

I've only had a couple of strange things happen to me in my old house. There were a couple of times when our bathroom door slammed shut when nobody was near it and the windows were closed. Another time there was a bucket sitting on a shelf in the basement way and while watching tv, it bounced down the stairs which there's no way it would've done it on it's own. Then lastly, we had a couple bags of empty pop cans in the basement and a few times we heard them rattling around on there own, it wasn't just like a bag fell over, it was ongoing for like a minute.

My 3 year old used to freak us out because she used to be afraid of a hand in her window (she was on the second floor) and also she talked about a "scary lady" that one night brought her into our room.

We moved last June into a house that's a couple of years old, so there hopefully aren't any spirits that are attached to the place.

I saw my dad clear as day when I was about 11 years old, jumped out from behind a door and scared me shitless. Only problem is he wasn't home at the time. Now I didn't blame this on a ghost, or anything else because even then I knew it was my crazy ass imagination.

The problem I have with all of this ghost crap is that it's 100% illogical. The common acceptance is that ghosts are spirits / people who died and didn't "pass on". However, the only people that see ghosts are the ones that habitually see ghosts and also believe in other things I think are nonsense like astrology, alien abduction, crop circles, curses, ouija boards, etc.

Anyhow back to the point, if ghosts come from people who've died everyone would see them. There are thousands of years of dead people and only so much area on earth. That would mean the ghosts are just piling up and would be in the streets, wal-mart, the mall, your bathroom, in the trees, pretty much everywhere. This is in stark contrast to the spooky old houses inhabited by people that are slightly off and easy to scare. As if a spirit would sit around for years just so they could make noises above your head and freak you out.

Also, there would be 100% documented proof of ghosts. There are cameras everywhere now. If ghosts are real they are everywhere so somewhere in the world a camera would have caught actual footage.

Finally, I have seen first hand people get spooked by myself or someone else. We didn't tell them it was us and they will go to their graves saying they saw / heard / experienced a ghost.

Anyone that seriously thinks they saw something that cannot be explained and there is "evidence" left over like broken stuff or "ripped up books" they should seek medical attention immediately.

This is like telling people that tap water is $100 water flown in from Malaysia or something. If they think it, they will experience it. The mind is powerful and you can scare the living shit out of yourself if you're willing to accept redonkulous explanations for everything.

Exactly, its always the same type of people seeing ghosts. Usually weak minds like krl experience that stuff. And guess what, krl is the type that believes in all that nonsense. Just like most people people who see ghosts. Its rarely a stand alone thing. Ofcourse someone like me will never see a ghost. And yeah, ghost love to stuff like making weird noises in the room next door A ghost is gonna stick around for a few centuries just to rattle some empty cans in the basement. And like you mentioned as well, where is the evidence. This isnt the 1900's anymore. People have cameras everywhere. Millions of witnesses but nobody can show any proof? That alone shows what a bs this is.
Why is it always "when i was 13, i was in my bed, it was dark blah blah". Because thats when your mind plays tricks on you. By the time you're 30 you made up a completely different story of what happened (not on purpose obviously).
8 out of 10 ghosts stories already can be explained as simply a dream. SO many people wake up out of a dream and think they were awake 1 min ago when they saw/heard the ghost. A sane person with a brain would figure out whats going on. Simple minds like krl just want to see a ghost so bad they rule out the dream option instantly.

I don't believe in ghosts whatsoever, but...

Our oldest daughter used to play 'tea time' with her dead grandmother when she was a youngster. She'd always lay out the tea table in a peculiar and specific way that was identical to the way her grandmother always did (according to my wife).

She was an infant when her grandmother died...so she had no real contact with her.

I'm sure its explainable one way or another besides chalkin' it up to the supernatural. Just one of those odd little things...

This is a very funny thread. The division of opinion seems to be between those who think seeing or believing in ghosts is weak, and those who think it's progresive perception. One side hollers "yer on crack"... the other side hollers back "you're in denial". But who is right? I don't give a shit. The most interesting thing to me about the argument is the fact nobody is calling out the pragmatists on their biggest logical fault...

IT'S NOT JUST GHOSTS THAT CAN EXIST ONLY IN YOUR HEAD. JUST ABOUT ANYTHING CAN.

This for example can have SO many reasons. She could have picked it up from your wife who did it the same way. Or a picture. Someone couldve told her, etc. The chance that this something supernatural compared to a completely logicial explaination is like 1:99.

I think some people tend to want to believe in ghosts because to them its confirmation of a hereafter...a higher plain of existence after we die. It goes hand-in-hand with religion crap.

I quite agree. But its a favorite chestnut of a story the wife likes to recount whenever her and I debate if ghosts are real.

Oh yes for sure. People who believe in ghosts VERY often believe in God and the hereafter!

I had / have the worst imagination possible. Every morning when I woke up I saw people in my room. I was too terrified to even run to the bathroom. If I stared at them to daylight it was a shirt hanging on the door or a weird shadow from something in the window. If I was walking somewhere scary and I thought of bigfoot, I saw and heard bigfoot. If I thought of a wolf, I saw and heard a wolf. When I hear a scary story now I still get chills and "hear" things. These are very real sounds but I'm no more scared of them than a fly.

2 years ago (in my old house) i was working behind the computer when i suddenly so a shadow upstairs in the hallway. A big shadow, of a man. First i crapped my pants....then i grabbed a knife and wanted to go upstairs. I thought it was a burglar. Then i figured that wasnt too smart either so i just walked outside and went to the bar next door, the owner is a friend of mine. He told me to call the cops, which i did. They arrived real quick and ran upstairs. They found nothing. All the windows/doors locked. No traces whatsoever of anyone/anything.

So thats when i was really confused. I was so goddamn sure i saw a big moving shadow on the wall that could only be of a person.

This is where a ghost story starts. The usual "believer" simply wouldve said that this is a ghost appearence or something else supernatural. And in 10 years from now the story would be even better. Not only a shadow but also things moving, noises etc.

Later that day when i walked outside i saw my neighbour standing in the door so i asked him if he heard anything. Turned out the fucker was cleaning the space between our roofs and its hardly possible but the way the sun was shining and where he was standing created a big as shadow, through a small window in my hallway. I doubt you would be even able to recreate that.

Moral of the story. There is always a logical explanation. Even if you cant think of one yourself.

If there really were ghosts someone would be making money off them by now, so no. I don't believe in it.

I am surprised at the number of people that laugh at those that believe in paranormal activity. Those that believe in it are not weak minded. It is those that can not open their minds to the possibility that their may be something else that are weak minded.

Personally I am not sure what to believe but I am like an open book. I read and absorb many different theories. Many seem to be debunked easy while others make you wonder.

What you have to understand is if their is another dimension these "entities" wouldn't just get over populated like some say. You don't know what form things are in. Stop and think this may be way out of our thought process to even comprehend what goes on in other dimensions. How much space does energy occupy? Do you think any other dimensions are sharing just earthly space?

Why some see ghosts and others don't. Perhaps they can tune in easier to the other dimension. Or they can't filter it out like we are supposed to do. It would explain why kids seem to easily pick this stuff up. The mind of a child hasn't been programmed or polluted yet.

I tend to think IF their is another dimension we are not supposed to be able to communciate with anything in it. That is why we have no concrete proof. Could you imagine if our brains had to process sensory input from another dimension? Hell we can't even drive and talk on cell phones at the same time. They had to make laws against it. We would go insane trying to deal with the overload. Our brains filter it out.

Keep an open mind.

Hmmm Franck...

Are you aware of the experiments done in Quantum Physics that prove a consciousness actually affects the outcome of experiments?

Basically, a watched quantum pot never boils.

Example:

Scientists have a way to shoot individual photos out of a device. They shoot this photon ( which is the component of light ) at a wall. In front of this wall there is a plate with two equal sized holes in it not too far apart. Without making this post turn into a giant long rambling mess, basically what happens is if you do not monitor the photon, it appears to go through both holes at once, interfere with itself, and cause an interference pattern on the wall behind the two holes. If a conscious mind "watches" the photon using a sensitive device to capture the photon at the first hole, the photon does NOT appear to go into both holes and continues on to the wall behind it without interfering with itself. There have been other experiments similar to this that show that consciousness affects the results of experiments. Einstein was well aware that electrons show what he called a "spooky action at a distance" in other theories.... anyways... yeah.

And like you mentioned as well, where is the evidence. This isnt the 1900's anymore. People have cameras everywhere. Millions of witnesses but nobody can show any proof? That alone shows what a bs this is.

I've taken a ton of pictures with my 20D. A ton.

Almost as a joke a friend of mine and I went to visit someone we knew who apparently had an old haunted house. Not only did we both hear a very loud "Thump" from the upstairs when nobody was there, but I also got this on the camera:

Lightened:

Franck, I wonder if any other 20D owners can say if they can produce this?

None of the other pictures had anything weird in them....
