Need some advise (snowboarding)

Never in my life i did any wintersports. More a beach/sun kind of person.
I did a lot of ice hockey when i was younger.

The upcoming www.showgathering.com I'm going to try to do some snowboarding but need some advise from you guys, don't want to break my legs and get my ass blue.

Next weekend i'm going to get some indoor practice but I think it's to short notice.

Any advise (tips/tricks) is welcome because I dont want be the joker, lol.

1. Make sure your boots fit. There is nothng worse than ill fitting boots. PUt them on walk around for a bit. Make sure that they fit.

2. Wear clothing that will allow you to be comfortable and DRY. Don't over dress. The last thng you want is to be wet from sweating. Did I say don't over dress?

3. Take a lesson. I don't care if it is private or group but take a lesson. If you have a good instructor in the morning you will take your first blue run in the afternoon.

4. Keep you knees bent. Think of the shock absorber on a car. You can't take bumps and still have control if your legs are stiff.

5. DON'T look down at your board. You can keep your balance if you are looking down. You are going to the beautiful snow covered mountains.. LOOK AT THEM.

These are very basic tips and if you follow them I promise you you will only fall 1,000 times your first day.

Aight thanks, I appriciate your advise and tips. Next weekend I will get some indoor practice and need to do some shopping to get proper clothing.

Somebody also told me to get some elbow and knee protection.

But I think I will get addicted to snowboarding since I'm addicted to speed, lol

Take a lesson from someone at the mountain. If you can, take a few your first day out.

It's easier to learn with someone who's there to show and tell you exactly how it should work.

#1 most important. If your boots dont fit right and your feet can move around you are screwed. Trust me this is how I broke my ankle going over normal sized mogel. I would also consider wrist guards. I dont know if this is standard equipment or not but I would investigate that too. Other then that have fun and get ready for a sore ass for day 1.

Don't be a pussy. Most people are so scared of getting speed that they can't properly learn.

Don't go down a practice hill. Go straight to an intermediate trail. It will be impossible to move, turn, or even stand up without any speed. Stay as low as possible and bend your knees. Always look ahead of where you are. Have fun.

The good thing is I like speed so that issue is already solved. Thx for the tip and I think it will be 100% fun. When I'm back or there is Internet access I will try to post some pics.

Last time I was on the mountains, my shoes was too big. I have never been that tired in my feet ever before. I had cramps all over...

Does anyone know if you can still get those Vivid snow boards.

Or does anyone know where you can send them your graphic and get a custom board made?
