I'm not an expert in this, so people can correct me if I'm wrong, but here's my take on the matter. If you pick up a SATA drive, you definately need a motherboard with SATA ports, you CAN'T hook it up through an IDE cable.
As far as the SCSI goes, if this is a home computer, I wouldn't bother with it, if it's for something server related, then that's a whole other ballgame. Back to the SCSI subject. I believe it'd be harder to find a decent motherboard for a home pc with SCSI on it. There is however other options like buying a PCI SCSI card, but definately don't do that because what happens is that if you have a sound card or something else running on those PCI slots, it's gonna load down your "bus" and you're gonna get sound loss at times when activity is heavy (I know from personal experience). If I were you and you wanted a 10K drive, definately go with the Raptors, RAID them if you need more space than the 74 GB. Definately keep in mind that there's lots of HUGE drives out there that are only 7200 RPM that do have 16mb buffers which definately make them a little faster than the norm. |

SATA drive you will need a montheboard with SATA connectors. Also make sure the drive comes with the SATA cable and also the power cable.

You're fine. I run multiple Raptors on my systems, so I am quite familiar with the drives as well as Serial-ATA itself. The Raptor will come with the SATA data cable and I believe it comes with a SATA power adapter in case your PSU doesn't have SATA power connectors (Doesn't really matter though because the Raptors can take SATA power connectors OR legacy power connectors).
