I will pay you $300 if you figure out how to get my money from PayPal...

I got a payment from someone via paypal and it must have flagged my acct.

If you have a master plan for me to get the money out of that acct, I will be happy to give you $300.

Who has the inside trick to getting back money being held hostage from paypal?

paypal horror stories will not help. postive result stories will make me happy

I had this happen to me a couple years ago, around the time when the non-adult policy was just implemented. It took about 10 hours on the phone with them (between being on hold, talking to morons, getting "accidentally" disconnected) to get the money released but I got it done within a week.

I'm not sure if this would still work now since the policy has been around for quite some time. However, it's likely that you will get your money back in 180 days.

This is what works:
When you call them, tell the operator/phone person AS NICE AS YOU CAN:

"I absolutely do not have the time to discuss any of this with anyone but the decision-maker of the company. If you cannot get me that person on the phone within a reasonable amount of time I will be forced to go to the authorities."

Stay friendly and positive. Most of the time this alone will get you what you want. Only when they argue turn up the heat.

If the phone person argues, insist it's your money and as a financial institution they have an obligation to be up front with you about your money. Refuse to talk to her or her supervisor and insist on talking DIRECTLY with the person who handles this.

I did this when I had a phony ass chargeback on my account back when I sold traffic. They initially refunded it with no questions asked but I pulled this shit over the phone and got through within 30 minutes. When i finally spoke with the guy, I offered to send records of the traffic being delivered, our icq logs et. all - he couldn't care less, turned down seeing any proof and immediately refunded the money.

If push comes to shove, find the president of the company's name, if not the president then the financial manager. Have your attorney write up a friendly letter about how you would like your money back asap or else... send it to the secretary of this person and see your money come back quick as fuck.

Now, epass or paypal on that 300 bones ?

Is their an official agency called PayPal Authorities? Hehe.

Every horror story I've heard involved a 6 month wait, so good luck.

From what I know and my dealings you will need to get the person who sent you the funds and had your account flagged to work out their problem with PayPal first. Once they straighten out on their end any funds in your own account will get released.

the only thing that's worked for me is patience. either the payment gets fully reversed, or gets freed up. could take a few weeks - usual chargeback timescale

if they've limited your account access, they might hold the money up to six months. you'll receive an email as soon as you're able to withdraw the money

This hasn't worked for ANYONE in ANY BUSINESS. This is the point where they will hang up the phone

Yes paypal is very difficult to work with, the whole ebay thing is. I lost 500$ trough ebay and paypal so I'm not using them anymore. If I am forced to use paypal I open an account have a someone place money in the account just enough to make the payment and I make my payment fast.
If you have a lot of money in paypal (wich isn't smart) just sew them.

You can mail this guy: [email protected] he's an insider and might be able to speed things up. Be nice, don't curse, if you violated their tos (adult transaction) they will keep your account closed and you will lose the money.

I'm not sure that PayPal has ever actually 'kept' money. they hold it for a while, but they don't just take it as far as I'm aware.

they're highly regulated, and wouldn't be around long if they just helped themselves to the funds in people's account.

If the transaction wasn't adult related, make a complaint to the Nebraska attorney general's office, where I *think* PayPal HQ is. Or find out which state they are in and do that... nobody likes to hear from the attorney general's office and it will get results.

If it's an adult transaction... good luck

The cynicism in adult doesn't really take place except by the watercoolers and behind closed doors in mainstream companies.

What is happening is the computer is doing shit automatically. And in today's world, it's much easier to train humans to be brick walls regardless of what's wrong or right and keep the customer off the back of the people doing the "real work" behind the scenes.

So yeah, "the authorities" is a corny choice of words, but in writing, it was my way of saying to adjust your word selection according to the conversation. If they flat out refuse to even talk to you, say you'll file a police report (which does in fact work - sometimes) and if they start spewing off about how they legally have the right and blablabla, then in that case you threaten to have your lawyer take it up with them (which noone wants).

I grew up with someone who never took no for an answer and always got to the bottom of bullshit like this. I know the process and have seen what works and what doesn't.

Either way I've invested too much time in this topic - have a great day everyone!

mm Lori - I'd hit up someone on the phone, do my sweet as button talk and tell whomever is on the phone that you're a consultant - you do marketing campaigns. The job that you did had nothing to do with anything adult and if your client did anything adult in their past, that's not up to you to judge or to fish around for info on when you decided to accept PayPal *the upstanding company they are* as payment. Tell them that you need your money and you need it fast. Make a joke here, one there - keep the cool and be sweet. Ask to speak to their supervisor - and the one above them if they can't give you YOUR money back. Good Luck

thanks to all who posted advice.

yes this was related to a consulting item, not directly 'selling' adult material therefore a nice phonecall may help.

... now let's see if someone answers the phone over there.

I may also contact mitch so thank you for that.

I will honor my word to pay whomever's angle worked for me to resolve this matter!

i emailed paypal early this morning when this happened and i just got this reply:

Unfortunately, you cannot just close your PayPal account and transfer the
money to your bank account. Your account has been found in violation of
our Acceptable Use Policy and has already been closed for all practical
purposes.

Your funds will be made available for you to withdraw 8 to 10 business days
after your account was closed. This should be in the next few days.

I apologize for any frustration this is causing.

If you have any questions, please contact the PayPal Acceptable Use Policy
Department at [email protected].

Looks like you're at least getting your money. Now, who advised you to do what you did, in order for them to close your account? You owe that person $300.
