27 Members of the House Now Support Impeachment

There are now 27 members of the House of Representatives, including John Conyers, the ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee who are supporting a bill, H. Res 635, calling for "a select committee to investigate the Administration's intent to go to war before Congressional authorization, manipulation of pre-war intelligence, encouraging and countenancing torture, retaliating against critics, and to make recommendations regarding grounds for possible impeachment."

At the same time the Congressional inquiry moves forward, recent polls reveal that the majority of the country now favors impeachment if the President either lied about the reasons for going to war or broke federal law with his illegal wire-tapping program. This is a clear-cut sign that the impeachment movement is becoming a decisive factor in U.S. politics.

Unforunately, the House is much larger than the Senate...if it were 27 Senators, we'd be getting somewhere....but I still have faith that this clown (and his cronies) will not finish his term.

i think shit was bad before (with the misleading war crap) but i think Bush really pressed his luck with the wire tapping bullshit. its a direct violation of our privacy and ammendments rights.

i hope that the wire tapping is 'the straw that broke the camels back'.

It does not matter what the congress says. the patriot act can be used against them. People really need to read that. For anyone to go against the government ( including congress ) ( with a declaration of war, Bush is the government ) is a violation of the patriot act.

Steps Toward Impeachment
These steps are distilled from a variety of sources listed here.

1 Impeachment starts informally with the the people. Please make your opinions known.
2 A member of the House of Representatives refers charges to the House Judiciary Committee. OR, using a little known precedent, a State Legislature can pass a Resolution of Impeachment and transmit that to the US House through their Representative.
3 The House Judiciary Committee considers the charges and adopts a resolution to conduct an inquiry.
4 House of Representatives passes the resolution by a majority vote.
5 The House Judiciary Committee conducts the inquiry or investigation into the crimes.
6 The House Judiciary Committee approves articles of impeachment by a majority.
7 The House of Representative debates each article and passes at least one with a majority vote. Bush is now officially "impeached".
8 The Senate conducts a trial and convicts with a 2/3 majority vote.
9 The President, and hopefully also his VP and others, are removed from office.

There hasn't been this much fear of government since the McCarthy Era of the 1950's. The difference is that the powers behind Bush twisting his administration are smarter. They're allowing the people who oppose them to make fuck phat loot to pacify them. If they don't fall in line they get a beat down.

Americans will not stand up unless the television reception, cigarette distribution and alcohol distribution get fucked up.

You fuck up just one of those creature comforts and it'll be all hell breaks loose.

Clinton was impeached and still completed his second term in office. The Bush regime will never give up their posts.

www.impeachbush.org

Every President since Nixon has had some form of an impeachment threat over their head. Clinton got impeached for something stupid. It was a loophole entrapment. The Republicans had to have an impeachment for payback for what happened to Nixon. That's all it was about.

In order to impeach a president you have to prove a criminal act was committed or condoned by him. Not by his staff or some overzealous henchman.

In Nixon's case, it was G. Gordon Liddy's racist dumb ass that got them in a jam. Nixon KNEW he lied about the break in and wiretapping and goings on and KNEW if he stayed in office he'd get pinched AND go to jail. Nixon's failing was hiring goons like in those Batman tv show styles.

Bush however has plausible deniability. He didn't know the intelligence he was given was fucked up. He acted on it. What these impeachment hungry guys have to prove is that Bush knew, condoned, conspired or covered up any illegal actions. The keyword here is 'advised'. He's been given a bum steer over and over again and all he can say is "I'm sorry but I was given the wrong information!". He can get away with that.

On the other hand, if ONE or more people in his administration come forward and state otherwise, it validates major legal actions i.e. Oliver North. If there's ONE guy who would do this, I'm betting full bucks he WILL come forward cause he comes from a great patriotic family and won't set still for it. It may or may not implicate the president but it sure will nail the 'phantom menace' behind Bush.

This is just like those Star Wars movies. Too much power given to one man/administration and too many mocked up threats to justify it. The people didn't find out til it was too late.
