This is an EXCELLENT example of how the same principle in magic can be used over and over to create what looks like an entirely new effect.

This trick is done EXACTLY the same was as Chris' walking through a shop window that I talked above above.

Notice one side of the table connects to the wall, the other side of the table has a long portion that's actually not glass but wood (viewable at 38sec. in approx). This allows the glass surface to slide from one direction to another. In one case, to reveal a hole that allows for the shaker to be passed through, on the other side to reveal the embeded coin.

Objects are fixed to the table so that the glass surface appears to remain stationary.

The other pass through effects of the coin are accomplished by simple "palming" techniques. Notice after the coin passes all the way through the hand above the table remains closed and "pointing" to what he wants you to see, to draw attention away from the coin palm.

A "thumbtip" is a flesh colored plastic device, sometimes with a metal tip on the inside. It allows for effects such as:

Showing both hands empty, pushing a scarf into one of your fists, then immediately opening your hand to show the scarf has vanished.

Or, to allow a lit cigarette to be stuffed into your hand, then immediately opening it to show that it's vanished.

It's also sometimes used to deliver a "load" (no relation to this industry, haha). IE, folding coins, marked bills, etc.

As long as when your audience sees your hand your thumb is always pointed straight forward, the tip will go totally unnoticed.

You said in an earlier thread that your thumbtip wasn't fitting because of your long fingers. By this looks of these pictures your thumbtip is actually TOO large for your hand, not too small.

The tip should NOT extend below the knuckle of your thumb. Otherwise, you can't bend your thumb inward toward your palm while pointing it directly ahead, which is the proper technique.

You might want to saw it off a little shorter and then smooth the edges from a distance with a lighter.

Hahaha my thumbtip surely made some people freak out. It works great when youre in a bar, people are drunk, its dark and you make a burning cigarette dissapear.

How does Chris Angel escape that chamber that sits inside a container of water?

My guess is when the jets are turned on there is a hole that he simply escapes from and the water, chamber are all an illusion to cover up the trap door.

Also during segments where they turn on the bubbles he goes for a piss and eats some food :)

Just think of it as a hidden pocket in your hand. When he is stuffing the silk into his hand he is actually stuffing it into the thumbtip which is located in his palm. At the end of the stuffing he pokes his thumb in and puts on the thumb tip.

Truth of the matter on these things . . . I know one of you said yours is too small . . . with enough practice you could have a bright green thumb tip and people wouldn't be able to tell you have it on. And the dude that took a picture of his is definately too big ;)

I saw Copperfield in Vegas, how does he perform the trick that the guy dissapears from the audience and ends up on the beach with numbers written on his hand from the audience, the numbers were picked by the people that the ball landed on (he threw couple of them in air)
