Lensman was away. The boys decided to play.

1 - someone starts a thread about a forum (rip-productions.com) that posts stolen content (the owner of which, a few webmasters have been fighting for quite some time)

2 - suddenly the alleged owner of that forum shows up on gfy taunting everyone, saying obviously stupid things repeatedly like "my servers are bullet proof, you can't stop me if you wanted to" etc etc etc.

3 - a back and forth conversation is going on between the alledged forum owner and webmaster - forum owner still going batshit, claiming no one can stop him if they wanted to

4 - discussions begin on HIS forum pop up saying "hey man, thats not him... he's not the one posting on gfy"

5 - then on gfy... in the heat of the battle a post is made from the webmaster EXCEPT he then used the wrong nickname - and was using the webmasters nickname that he wsa arguing with... still using same speech patterns, caps, taunts etc.

6 - 2-3 people (me being one) happened to see that post

7 - that post is deleted in seconds. litterally in seconds. so it was pretty clear that the mod and friend of webmaster was posting or at least part of what was going on because they were obviously logged in as a mod at that exact moment.

8 - people start saying "what the fuck? i saw that" - those posts get deleted.

9 - more posts are made - those get deleted. then previous incriminating posts get deleted.

10 - dumb cover story comes out by mod and webmaster that his username/pass got hacked. made no sense. no explanation was offered except one that wasn't very likely. no one believed it... but it already wasn't fun anymore anyway.

summary: someone got the great idea... instead of hacking someones server or doing something dirty to take them offline, or fighting a pointless legal fight... it was realized that it would be much more practical and safer to just start fake drama on gfy posing as the offender, attack all webmasters, say there is no way in hell they could stop him... then sit back and watch a bunch of kids go to work on his site.

smart idea. funny.

it worked.

his servers and site went down pretty fast.

I went to leaseweb and got the site and their server pulled. There's another thread about it somewhere but I'm too lazy to dig it up

Yes this is an old post - im bumpin it for a good reason

http://www.nu.nl/news/1125331/50/Bre...ngbedrijf.html

For all non dutchies: brein is a dutch anti piracy organisation, they sued leaseweb and want total disclosure of all data on all forums. They won, so Leaseweb is screwed. They also sued Leaseweb to force cooperation. And are looking into sueing for expenses.

This is just the beginning for Leaseweb of a long painful and expensive story.

Like lotsa ppl here said: karma is a bitch

Interesting. Lets hope it creates precedence, also against torrent -and upload sites. Copyright is international law agreement, so it can be used in most countries.
