I would say 40 to 50% goes into savings in some form or another - I don't put stuff just into an account but diversify my portfolio

I'm at about 70%. If you keep investing 10% of you're income you'll be rich if your still young, think about it!

Damn that's alot, congrats! I kind of feel the same way. I have a hard time spending my money (like in blowing it away).

I try to do 10%, but I havent been doing that as of late.

But I dont put it into a savings account and let it rot. I usually let it sit in an account until I get enough to buy a 1 oz gold bar or two at apmex.com, then I place the order and have it delivered. When it comes, it goes to my secret hiding place.

What do you consider "saving" then? keeping money in a bank account earning 3% interest?

I wondered the same. Currently I'm putting away 10% (well just starting too) and hopefully as my income grows I can put away more.

None now...but my old man is on me constantly to do it. He says I blow more money than he used to earn in a year...blah blah.

Ya, I know. I wish I could too. It doesn't matter how much I've ever made, I always seem to blow it all.

When the big money was rolling in I actually played in smart and put the majority away and invested (though some investments lost me several tens of thousands of dollars, so I guess it wasn't so smart.....). Now that I'm focusing on school and some other investing, I'm taking money OUT of that savings. Makes me nervous as hell but at least it's there
