iTune listeners rejoice!

I love iTunes. I love being able to buy albums and download them immediately. I love burning them onto CDs and listening to them in my car and I love downloading them into my iPod as well. Shit, iTunes is the mutha'fukk'n bomb!

I use iTunes for the legit shit...but if an album gets ripped months in advance, or if it comes from a mixtape...then I resort to my IRC connections.

I use Music Match. It cost me $14 a month to stream music as much as I want. If I purchase more than four songs in one month it's free, and I always purchase music on line.

Then I burn them to disk to play in my car, and over to the other computer for my IPOD. LIfe is good.

I just get everything without having to pay from torrent sites like torrentlounge and mininova, I did pay once however at allofmp3, just because they have seriously rare stuff that is next to impossible to find through other means. at about 4 cents a song, I really do not see the harm, what do those sites like itunes charge anyhow? I am sure they have a good market with the general population that does not realize that in most to all cases, the same music is available for free through torrent trackers.

Then if you are really impressed with the music, you can go out and buy it or pay for it on amazon or something if the moral issue comes into play.

Downloading music without paying for it like walking into a music store, grabbing a few CDs and walking out without paying for them. Musicians are creative people and they deserve to be paid for their work.

In regards to prices.....iTunes typically charges $9.99 for an album (most albums). I was looking at a CD last night at Barnes and Noble and they wanted $19.95 for the CD and when I got home I checked iTunes and they wanted $9.99...so I bought it. I'm sure I could have downloaded it for free somewhere else but it feels good knowing that I'm supporting musicians and bands that make great music.

Please substitute the word "porn" for "music or song" then re-read your post.

it's not legal here, but it's legal where they are located. They give a certain percentage of sales to the recording companies. Much much less than what itunes would give the companies but only hat the music is really worth.

I hate to say it but I could care less if people download music or buy it. The truth is, the artist hardly sees anything from cd sales anyways.

if I want to support a band, I'll go see a show. If I want music, I buy from mp3search.ru, the recording company still makes enough to pay for recording, marketing and a little profit. Then still have that half penny left over to give the musicians their cut of the cd sales.

I'm a bit bitter towards the music industry though. They rape musicians for everything they got, control their music and even go as far as shutting down avenues for band's self promotion forcing them to go to labels for financial and marketing help.

I download the CD eighter from torrent or irc...if it's good, I go out and buy it...

I want the booklet etc.. Im not paying for Mp3 hehe....Im a booklet freak...

As for "supporting the artist"...every band I like, I've seen them in concert more than once and bought merch directly from them...They make much more on a single t-shirt than on 3+ CDs most of the time...I'm all for encouraging the artist, especially if they need it...most of the bands I like really dont make that much money...

but really..if someone downloads the latest eminem or celine dion and doesnt pay for it..I couldnt care less...

Great debate going on here - thanks for participating

Interesting to see so many opinions on the legality of downloading internet music on the internet.

iTunes sucks my left nut.
The software is borderline adware and they give you 128k mp3s. No thanks.

allofmp3.com is what i use...

but i gotta say none of the music services compare to what emusic used to be back in the day, before itunes came around and before all the dust from napster lawsuits etc had settled.. 15 bux a month for unlimited downloading of DRM'less mp3's. They initially started out encoding at a low quality but quickly changed that. Totally legit. Then Universal record label decided they had to buy emusic, up the price and put a download cap of 40 songs per month. Emusic and every other music service pales in comparison to what emusic used to be

As shady as the RIAA is I really cant bring myself to use iTunes at all. Almost none of the money goes to apple, they run the iTunes service at a loss to sell iPods. Ill go see a bands show, but im done with buying cd's or anything at all that puts money into the RIAA's pockets. I'll only buy cd's from artists and labels I know arent part of the RIAA.

Look what Sony did to those who bought their CD's this past year. They inserted rootkits and spyware so dangerous that they are being hit by many lawsuits by paying customers. I am one of them.

Fuck the recording industry. Fuck Sony. The majority of the artists don't care if you download their music on the internet for free. They make their money touring, and their true fans will buy their CD's.
