In fairness he also said he would review it at a later date (beginning of October I think). He did review it, opened it again and posted it, citing the freshness etc that new affiliates can bring to a program etc.

I´m shocked that not a single affiliate have stepped forward to tell that he/she "does none of the things, which have been mentioned so far" like some sponsors did in the other thread ;-)))

What about sponsors that allow some affiliates to do dirty little tricks that affect other affilates but the sponsor allows it because the affiliate doing the dirty little tricks makes the sponsor more money than the affilate that is trying to make an honest living? And then the sponsor has the cheek to post on a webmaster board talking about dirty tricks when he allows it for some but not others. I think that sponsors should look after all affiliates equally instead of different rules for some just because they make them more money, Remember if you didn't have affiliates you would not be where you are today, try treating them equal instead of being greedy and allowing different rules for an extra dollar. And affiliates that cheat maybe someone could make a database where all sponsors could add cheaters that have actually been caught cheating so they cant sign up for any programs

- How about the guy that signs up his "brother", "mother", "uncle", "sister", "neighbor" and his dog under HIS OWN REFFERAL, just to send his own traffic and get the 10% referral fee on top of his payout?

- How about the guy that registers domains like TAWNEESTONESOFFICIALSITE.com to confuse surfers?

- Another pet peeve is affiliates that remove our watermarks from content we provide, then add THEIR OWN. or use our exclusive content to promote a competing sponsor.

Others?
Hey that's no fair, I only signed up my neighbor and brother.. you mean I can sign up my mother and uncle too?

Just start with trademarking your sites, you will be able to close down all fraudulent domains using your brand name. I was surprised to how much this is abused in the adult industry.
Fleshlight.tv
thefleshlight.com

just a quick example, it's just not wise not to protect your brand even for an affiliate who might have good intentions with it. Try to set an auction site named the-e-bay.com, you won't know what hit you.

It's worth the $ to protect your brand name.

to Dugmor: If you invite potential affiliates to a party and they drink and eat on your costs and don't send you clicks well you can't blaim them, perhaps after talking with you they don't like what you have to offer. It's a business risk not only related to the adult industry. A company has a budget for this (or should have) a tgp gets freeloaders but in real life there are also lots of freeloaders. If you really hate that type of behaviour just stick to setting up a booth to talk with potential affiliates.

Something else that wasn't mentioned and bugs me is the abuse of known domain names on typo mistakes when you type naughtamerica.com instead of naughtyamerica.com and you get 15 popups. Also not good for you brand name, with a trademark you can claim these sites and redirect them to your own wich will benefit you again. (this hasn't got anything to do with affiliates but is also about abusing brand names.)

I don't think Steve's statement was referring to Hoes.com sponsor list because then his statement would not be accurate as I don't understand how hoes could send different quality traffic to one sponsor over another.

I think Hoes list is great and I refer to that list myself when I need another sponsor for something. It's been right on the money.

ya I have a story, happened on the 1st when I was going through the payouts.
I pay a webmaster referral and it seems not even this is safe from scams!
I had one guy from the netherlands, he requested to be paid via paypal, what he did was signup under his affiliate link, a new affiliate account, then would signup again under that affiliate account and he continued this like 6 times, all different names, all different email address, all pay by pay pal BUT ALL the same IP addresses.
He never had very many referrals under each account but spread them out over the multiple accounts thinking only a couple or so would not be noticed. I can view them by IP address so all his accounts were right there.
what some people will do to try to scam a buck...

That's one of the dangers of making these kinds of posts. Fuel for more rumors. "Hey, looks like Steve is slamming Hoes.com", and if he comes in to reply that it's not who he's talking about, the next one on the list and so on and so on...

I would not say that is a dirty "trick" - its more like dirty "ignorance", since the affiliate will not get more sales from listing all of the FHGs from one paysite - he will just get alot of bored surfers who are tried of seeing the same FHG template(s) 200+ times, and a pissed off sponsor that does not understand why only 0.005% are clicking thru to his tour from the FHGs.

Its a lose/lose situation!

Its a lose/lose situation!
Some (a lot) of sponsors do not really help themselves with this situation either I feel. Sequentially numbered galleries do not help

True, but with affiliates demanding strict rules to be followed on the FHG (amount of content, amount of outgoing links, no content on html pages etc.), then sponsors are almost doomed to make "cookie cutter" galleries...

I´m certain that surfers would not mind to have a greater variety in both layout, content and sales pitch on FHGs - as long as it enhance the experience in a positive direction

why leave the suspicion of affiliates or program owners being scammers when you can start two threads and prove it?

nice going!

Do you know of a dirty little secret that one or more affiliates use that results in decreased sponsor income? If so, post it here, no company names needed. I'll start with ones that have always bugged me and is done by TOO MANY affiliates.

Others?

Excellent post, Steve. This thread will spark some fights but I bet lots of good comes out of it too. Cheers.

Word. On that note, do you have any pix from the big party Danny & Carol threw @ the office/studio about 9 years ago? I think it was her BD. There was on of you & me at the bar that was priceless
