well, you said "you got" some nice .eu domains, while it seems to me like you just pre-registered them and in 2 months there will be a draw and there's just a few percent chance that you will actually get them

( havent read exactly everything re .eu domains, but i think it is like i said above^ )

Yeah, I should have been more specific. Not sure how does it end in 2 months, who gets the generic term domains, if for example 1000 people pre-order them.

with .info introduced 4 years ago,. most ICANN accredited registrars ( and there's like 100 of them ) accepted pre-registrations and then there was a lottery at the end

actually weather.info is a bad example, since the best genertic .info domains were all already acquired by cheaters who claimed bogus , often completely ridicolous trademarks in some African countries for particular generic terms in the "sunrise period"

you might be right, but that doesn't really prove residentship, for example any Chinese student that studies in Germany can register .eus, simply because he can provide address and telephone number

I guess it will be the same as with .us domains. You can register it even if you arent an US citizen, but they can take it away from you anytime. And since "fake" whois is not possible anymore for .us domains...

In the first sunrise period companies needed to send in documenation which proofs that they own a trademark on the name they want. That period has ended.

I remember when .in came out, people spent 5 trillion dollars registering every one they could think of. Now that .eu is coming out, people will spend 5 trillion dollars registering every one of those. As far as ccTLD's go, .us is where the money is at, and pre-registration for those was back in 2002, so you're all too late. Dont feel bad though, you only missed the boat by about 4 years.
