Question for the married guys...

I was just reading a thread about gifts for V-Day and got to thinking...

There's V-Day, the yearly anniversary, her yearly birthday, and Christmas. All days where you're supposed to do something great and thoughtful for your lovely wife or girlfriend. How in the hell do you guys come up with new stuff year after year for every "big gift event"? It seems like it would be some big competition too, its not like one year you can take her on a nice vacation and the next year just give her a box of chocolates, she's always going to want something better than the time before.

Guys are so easy to please its ridiculous. A steak, a night of sports, and a couple cold beers while getting a blowjob. Thats pretty easy.

Any input?

I think it's like any relationship..you have to constantly work at it and throw in new ideas, things or else it will get stagnant and eventually fail

My wife have an agreement to not give gifts and/or celebrate on some holidays. V-day is a fabricated holiday that is meant to drive sales. Marketing. So we skip that one. We only do Birthdays and XMas.

My boyfriend and I skip some holidays and celebrate others - we pick and choose when the time comes around. Sometimes it's cool to get something big like a laptop while other times it's just as good to get a $10 gift. It's the thought that counts: my boyfriend bought me a $5 keychain once for Christmas and it was my favorite gift - he had to search through websites in Russian for my favorite childhood cartoon character to find it.

It's all good if it's mutual..but I think it's more of a mans obligation to show his woman love. And a reciprocal blow job by her is always good

This may be true for some women but definitely not for me. I firmly believe that it's the thought that counts.

I find it extremely hard to believe that every couple on GFY has this golden relationship with your significant other where one person isn't expectant of great gifts and dinners. Total bull shit.

Actually I bet some of you guys are afraid to admit that your wife wants it all, ahaha.

For my wife's birthday this year (just around the corner actually)...she told me the other day she'd enjoy a nice quiet dinner at a good restaurant - that's all.

With busy lives and kids to deal with...she just appreciates some alone time together.

We skip fabricated corp holidays, though...in favour of mostly just birthdays and Xmas.

i've been blessed to have a gf that isn't materialistic. a successful relationship isn't based on materialism, it's based on a fundamental connection that has an impact far more reaching than money or sex.

I'm not high maintenance, my bf will just buy takeout food worth like $20 and we'll just eat that and be fine. I have never ever gotten expensive or fancy stuff like jewelry, trips or even flowers but I'm really independent, if I want something I'll get it myself, I don't need a man to buy me anything at all. I don't need any gifts from a man.

I know some girls are really high maintenance and want all this jewelry and crap, but mostly the guys I dated don't make a lot of money so I'm not used to getting anything at all, but if I wanted something I certainly dont need a man to buy it for me.

I dont want anything better each time, I'm fine just eating food at home.

I got out of a 4 years relationship recently, so i am free from all of that. However, i learned to get her the samething i got her every V-Day.. NOTHING! Bdays i keep it simple, xmas, i invite her to spend time with my family, and get get her something special but affordable. I am NOT rich, so you learn to out do yourself with what you can afford. IMO

Yep that's very true, i dont need any gifts or jewelry or fancy things, but I do need A LOT of time, and A LOT of attention. I'm fine not getting any gifts but unfortunately I'm needy in other ways. I'd rather have a guy spend a lot of time with me than buy me gifts.

Honestly it shouldn't be a competition to impress a girl with gifts. While we all respond to things that sparkle we do not expect it fo each and every holiday. The only time we will love you less is if you out and out forget or are unavailble to spend said holiday with us without a death certificate or some other suitable documentation. ;)

My wife and I do something small for each other on V-day, and holidays like that, but X-mas and birth days are usually much better.

With many women it is the thought and effort. The worst thing you can do is forget or blow it off. As long as you remember, some holidays are huge and some are just a time to show her that you still care & there is still a spark. Anyways guys should spoil their wives year round. We don't need a special day for that.

I'm not married, but been with the same ho for 5 years now.
I just cook her a great dinner and buy some flowers and spend the valentines day with her.. easy.
Birthday, same thing..except I buy her something she wants (luckily she's not into jewelry), so this year I'll get her an iPod.. how romantic is that.

My suggestion to your question is, get a bitch who isn't a materialistic slut.. but someone who cares for other aspects in life than those you can buy. I know this takes like 97% of the women out of the equation, but there's the 3% that are great.. and 0.00003% which are great + good looking.

just like this business, marriages, or any relationship for that matter, should be reinvented. try something new. explore the unexplored (literally & figuratively). there are many way to express love, i guess one who loves so much will never ran out of good and mushy ideas.

Hmmm, I don't think all women expect you to top yourself year after year. I'm pretty happy with anything for the exception of stuffed animals. I won't give them to him nor do I want them...I LOVE chocolate, however, my thighs..not so much lol. He can also cook me some dinner wearing that fancy lingerie LOL J/K....It's the thought, I know that a ton of people say that and don't mean it....I on the other hand do...after all it's just a holiday cooked up by Halmark LOL ;)
