Just wondered where you got this line: god is just the awe of the unknown. Quite profound. Reminds me of the Cargo Cults.

*blushes*.. ..i was raised catholic and only stopped believing literally at around maybe 14.. when i went to a secular highschool and got interested in science.. and realised how untenable my beliefs were.. i get the same feeling now thinking about the incredible complexity of a tree as i do when i'd ponder god and existance and whatnot.. i came to the common conclusion that we use "god" to explain what we cannot.. especially during early history at any rate.. it is that incredible awe that you feel that derives from our own incomprehension...
where the human mind reaches it's limits of comprehension this strange "understanding" of a much greater complexity takes over. you cannot articulate it because it is beyond us to be able to.. all we can do is be in an awed state at what is unknown to us... to some people this understanding of a greater complexity points to a "god".. to me only the limited capacity of the human brain.. we may be the the most intelligent species so far.. but there is a lot of room to go further....
we can't even imagine a "million" of something.. we know it as an amount.. but we can't visualise it.. can't know it all at once.. only in blocks.. we have evolved to deal with important small numbers.. sheep in a herd.. "small" fits in our hands, "big" is something that might be taller than us and be prey or a tree.. time at the very shortest is "now".. at the longest.. maybe a decade.. we're not equipped to deal with amounts outside of this range.. why do you feel so strange looking out from the top of a mountain into a canyon.. it is a distance that is comprehensible but on the long side of what we experience normally..why can't we imagine the size of an atom? why can't we imagine even how many times smaller an atom is than a grain of sand?..

this is what i believe "god" is.. hence for some reason i came to the conclusion that god is the awe of the unknown... it's not meant to be too deep or anything.. it may even be pieced together subconsciously from other things i've heard or read....
