From what I haev heard you have to "train" your skin to get good results. This means using them for a couple months then you start to get the good results.

ive never had much luck with electric razors, but if its true that u have to train your skin, then thats why, because everyone I used was like 3 uses and id go back to a regular razor.

You train your skin to be less sensitive to the razor. It hurts less with every use. I've used an electric razor all my life, but my beard isn't very thick. I've only lathered up and used a manual razor 3 times in my life. There was bloodshed

That's all I have used for the last 13 years. I think my skin is trained.

I use an electric now after using a blade all my life. It took a couple weeks to get used to it, but I love it now. The only difference I've noticed is that I have to shave more often, but with the electric it only takes like 2min to do a quick job so it's cool.
This is the one I have: http://www.shop.com/op/aprod-p219168...ver?sourceid=3 |

That's what I do. I do not like electric razors, they don't seem to cut nearly as close as a mach3 or similar. I do have an electric trimmer so I just trim the beard but never shave it all off. So much easier because I hate shaving and my facial hair doesn't grow very fast.

ive been using the Gilette Mach razors for many years and i really enjoy the close shave i get, i tend to shave my face hair against the grain which is what gives me the close shave...
So if i was to buy a really nice electric shaver i can get as close a shave as i can with a hand razor?

I have a really thick beard and the hairs are very tough. Electric razors never worked for me even after months of use. I found they missed or would not cut a lot of areas, especially along the neck area. I always had to use a manual razor to clean up what was missed by the electric, so I said fuck it and only use manual razors now.

I like mine. Cost around $100 or so. I still use a hand razor to get up close though.

Ive always have had the latest Norelco electric razors for years (still do) and have also used my buddies fancy-shmancy other electric razors but nothing gives me the same results as a good wet shave using a Gillette Mach series razor.
However, electric razors are very convenient for traveling or for a quickie if your in a rush or if you just want to tidy up. ![]() |

manual shave = THE BEST. Hot water to warm up. Some shaving gell. I shave with the grain first & then against..wicked close shave!
I got an electric one & they say you need to use it a few weeks first to get used to it.. never did, never liked... manual is the best way to go!!

I've been using the Norelco Triple Header most of my adult life and it does take about 2 to 4 weeks to get your skin used to it but after that you'll love it.
The heads float along the curves of the face real well and this model cost about $75 U.S. I use it everyday in the car on the way to work! Check it out.. http://www.shop.com/op/~Norelco_7865...-prod-26413511

They are ok as long as there isn't much hair there, so to save you time some mornings, it should be ok.
But i always end up letting it grow too long, and so have to resort back to manual... |

i couldn't get used to em, tho i never really tried. it hurt more than the other ones and i thought the idea of having to get used to it was stupid. i don't have time for that. shaving normally hurts pretty bad for me if i do it daily anyways, just once a week is good enough for me.

Same here, I haven't tried them. I've been thinking of acquiring one. But now I've changed my mind. I'll stick with the traditional one.

Bought the best Braun self cleaning razer. I tried it and it took freaking twice as long the first time to shave, it made my skin red as hell, left big patches of hair I couldn't even get too it was complete shit.
I tried it a couple more times and same results. Give me a razer sharp march 3 anyday, those new vibrating march 3's are kickass too. I should know I have to shave entire head every 2 days and those vibrating ones really work wonders. |

I either grow a beard or use a straight razor to shave (best shave you'll ever get)

Back in the day of Austin Powers when a clean shave (like good teeth) was not so important everyone used them. These days unless you have just peach fuzz or bum fluff electric they are just for those who are too lazy to get up out of their computer chair for grooming.

I've never used a manual one, seems like too much work... if you get a decent one and the blades are sharp the results are as good as manual one in my opinion...

Ive never been able to get a close enough shave with an electric and for some stupid reason I must have purchased about 5 or 6 convinced they would be better. At least now I know Im destined to stay with a normal razor for the rest of my natural.
