To all the people Whining about MYSPACE and your
hurt that you can't make money there.
this is not necessarily directed at the people from today, as their situation differs slightly, but there have been several threads in the past aobut profiles deleted and people complaining about other things and commerce there. what does myspace owe you? think about it. you are using their network of traffic to promote commercial gains to yourself that does not compensate them. tell me how myspace owes anyone anything? you are using their bandwidth to host the profiles. myspace makes money selling advertising. people clicking on links to commercial entities that you own cuts down on people clicking links that they sell. i don't get it. now the fact that peoples hosts are terminating their accounts, well, thats between them. not my business. it just blows my mind that people think that someone owes them something for nothing. i am glad that they are internally policing the profiles and terminating fake ones to dating sites and what not. unbelievable. anyone who can tell my why this company owes you any traffic for anything i will buy a steak dinner in phoenix. come on lets be real. |

The only way you can advertise on myspace without a legal threat, is to own a promotional company pushing musical artists venues.
So get on it guys!

People aren't whining about not being able to make money. They're whining about their hosting accounts being canceled simply because a third party (My Space) is complaining.
You're posting on GFY (just say you aren't sponsoring GFY). You're promoting Rage Cash. You're basically telling me that Lensman has the right to complain to your host and have them pull Rage Cash. That is what you're saying.

I wouldn't try advertising / spamming there...
but, if somebody hotlink my shit and they email my host about it, that's THEIR problem... not mine. They should just take of their problem internally instead of dragging everybody in it. If you spam your shit on there, you are just running after trouble. |

negative sir i said the second sentence in the thread it isn't directed to them. they shouldnt be promoting there anyhow. this is a b2b community. myspace is not. my space is a friend site with tons of traffic which is certainly going to cause people to go there to figure out how to take money out of it. with the new acquisition a few months ago, i am sure that they are in the process of stopping alot of the leaks there. trust me the music industry is hitting it hard from all levels and not paying them a dime with all the record label profiles and fake rapper and artist profiles and fan sites. its not just the adult people that are getting their hands slap. gfy and myspace, uncomparable. people go to myspace to keep track of their friends and use it as a communication tool for groups of people. gfy was designed to harbor a b2b community that promotes business between companys. no one has to agree with me. |

I can see where you are coming from, but, they shouldn't give you the option of puting up your company info if they don't want you bringing your company into it.
But, ya know, that's an easy way around the whole thing..if there is a place to put your company, put it there..how can they term you for answering a question they ask in the profile setup? |

so do most of the members of this board ( have an arrangement with gfy ) Point being. Myspace lets people advertise for whatever reason.. its not against their TOS.. they choose to let certain people advertise and certain people NOT advertise ( much like gfy re:quickbuck ) GFY had full rights to ban quickbuck even though gfy is FOR webmasters to discuss this sort of thing.. but they DONT have the right to contact quickbucks host and have them sabotage files.. I think the confusion is because of what is "right " and what is "legal" Myspace casn shut anyones profile down for any reason , thats their right. I dont think anyone is trying to tell them they cant. all people are saying is its HYPOCRITICAL to do so under some situations.. AND that they can be legally liable for damages for trying to stifle competition..

if a host cooperates with myspace thats a different story. i think that the parrallel with the threads today with some of the responses is where its confusing. i don't really care about that. those hosts are questionable to me as well. my post is less about what happened with the two guys or three today, than with the general assumption that people should be able to do whatever they want within others networks and not retribute anything unless thats the intended purpose. i.e. SEs. myspace is not designed nor intended for people in adult to shave off traffic to make sales. its a friend community that they pay all the bills for. they don;t owe anyone anything. so in other words if you walk on thin ice be prepared to fall in the lake sometime. thats my only point. your network = your rules. |
