Inktomi --> AOLsearch
I read somewhere that the only way to get any kind of good listings using Inktomi paid inclusion in AOLsearch is by paying for a few hundred urls and then linking them together for link pop.
I just read this recently and since I have been unsuccessful geting good results and this makes sense I was hoping someone could verify this and provide some details... like how many sites/link pop do you need? do they need to be on seperate IP's etc? Anyone doing this and having success? Let me know thanks |

If you use the links: command in inks pure search you'll find that the ink algorithms pretty much ignore link pop coming from purchased pages in position tech.
They are supposedly tweaking the algos so this may change, or have already changed. The tests I performed a few months ago indicated that ink does ignore link pop coming from purchased pages. |

I got the opposite from position tech..keep adding pages linked to the pages i needed to rank well and they just kept moving up for very competitive keys. Usually takes at least 20 or so to really break the ice and a wierd grace peiod that takes about a month to let the site get to the top.

Interesting. Did you use the links command at pure search to confirm this? Most of the talk at webmasterworld says that ink doesn't follow links off the paid page.
I built a ring of about 30 pages with self supporting links, and didn't see any big improvement. This would have been in oct, nov, and dec. However, when I built incoming links from other domains that were spidered by slurp, the free spider, I got rapid and dramatic improvements. I've got multiple top tens at aol using this technique. Supposedly there was talk of improvements in the internal handling of position tech pages. |

does it matter whether or not the linked pages come from the same vs. independent IPs?
