No one knew some ulcers were caused by viruses until just recently either. I haven't read up on the "obesity" virus but I certainly am not going to say it's impossible.

We all know someone who can just eat eat eat eat and is as skinny as a rail. Then there are those of us who look at a bag of chips and gain 10 lbs. Some people smoke socially (for instance when they drink alcohol) and never touch cigarrettes otherwise. Others have addictive personalities and have a hard time quitting smoking, and can't be a social drinker. Some people never had to study, slept through class, and got straight A's. Other people studied all night just to get a C. We're all genetically different and to make fun of someone just because they're different than you is assinine. |
Here's the easy answer: don't have a spouse/significant other. Be single and happy and eat (or don't eat) as much as you like. Tell anyone who questions you about it to fuck off.

true. people should understand that changing the diet cold turkey into a nutrition program will take maybe 60 days to extinguish the hunger "cravings". but after a couple months you really can easily stay on the diet with maybe only 10% of the willpower you needed in the beginning (and you need to get rid of every inappropriate food in your house, and mostly stop eating out.) clue: lots of fruits, vegetables, fiber, oatmeal, nuts, tuna, grilled chicken, apples, rykrisp, tomatoes, etc will fill you up---and if you cut out almost all sugars you will find that you can begin to control hunger pangs and stay on the program. but if you eat just one ice cream sundae, it can throw you blood sugar into a spike and you will then go nuts and want to eat a half gallon of ice cream---so you must be careful. you can feel very full eating maybe 1800-1900 calories a day IF you eat the RIGHT high nutrition, high fiber foods. do that (and exercise) and you will see the pounds come right off. |
great discussion in this thread :)

ok there lots of truths, half-truths, and bullshit in this thread.
some of the truths. 1. slender and in shape is generally more acceptable in society, healthier, and increases longevity. 2. the original poster had it correct. men would prefer boning a (non-fat) woman. 3. lots of folks make excuses for being overweight due to genetics or "slow" metabolism, this is a factor, but a small factor overall. tonight i just got back from riding my bike and made a quick run to the IGA to get fresh veggies. and i am a health nut and i always take a look at what people put in their shopping carts, and i will tell you, it is no wonder people are overweight. it's not really their fault. they are buying what "tastes good" to them. MOSTLY convenience type processed foods. one lady was so fat she had to do her shopping in a motorized cart. and not just women, men and children also. the point being almost EVERYONE in this large supermarket was overweight and unhealthy---maybe 90%. no time for a sermon. the older you get the tougher it is. it is mostly a physics issue. lots of info online. 1. buy the right foods and read labels and understand nutrition (eat mostly unprocessed foods) 2. go heavy on fresh fruit and vegetables, beans, nuts, light on meat, but eat fish or lean chicken 3. eat lots of fiber to feel full, (whole grains, oatmeal, etc) 4. limit sugars and salt 5. learn what your activity level and body size needs to maintain a certain weight and do not exceed that daily. and most important, you MUST exercise every day for 30-45 mins, both cardio vascular and resistance. there are no other answers to stay in top physical condition, look good, and have long life. it is a lifestyle thing, not a fad thing. read the book real age and change your life. sermon over. |
