MADISON, Wis. -- A porn-surfing Michigan parole officer is getting his job back -- with a raise, too.

Thomas DeLeon was fired in 2004, after computer logs showed he was surfing the Internet for about four hours a day. The records also show he was visiting X-rated Web sites while on the job.

His union appealed, saying firing was excessive for a first-time offense.

But an arbitrator has ruled that Department of Corrections policy mandated light discipline for a first time offense, not firing. The arbitrator said DeLeon should have received a one-day suspension.

The arbitrator said there were 10 similar cases with corrections employees and none was terminated.

Officials of the department say they're stunned by the ruling. ButDeLeon is getting to return to old his job, along with an automatic pay raise and $45,000 in back pay.

In a place like Wisconsin I can imagine that there aren't a ton of incidents to report to. That means there is some downtime.

What do you expect a guy to do? If you're not occupying his free time with activities and duties he is going to look for something to do.

Personally I could care less if he surfed porn 8 hours a day if he had nothing better to do. I'd appreciate it though that when someone steals a car that they find the damn thing and not just pass it off as an "oh well sorry" incident.
