Google Toolbar for Firefox problem

OK so I have version 1.5 of Firefox and tried to install the google toolbar.

It said... Software installation is currently disabled. Click Edit Options.. to enable it and try again.

So I followed the instructions below and it still gives me the messgae above

To unblock installation from Google:
1. Click "Edit Options..." in the bar at the top of the page. (screenshot)
The Firefox "Allowed Sites" window will appear.
2. Enter toolbar.google.com in the box under "Address of web site." (screenshot)
3. Click "Allow" to add Google to the list of allowed sites, then click "OK."
4. Click "Agree and Install" a second time to begin installation.

I wouldnt even bother with the toolbar in firefox.. you have so many firefox extensions out there that will provide similar functionaly, and in a much better way. For IE, it would be very handy, but for firefox it seems kind of redundant to me.

Which extensions would you suggest?

Im using all of these:

all-in-one sidebar
alexa sidebar again
search status
googlepreview is cool

and ive always found firefox to have decent form autofilling by default not to need a seperate extension for it. Havnt tried any, but there are some out there. Theres tons of other cool ones too, check out:

Sorry, thats wrong (my firefox is a bit different from the extensions).. I think what you need to do is go to Tools > Options > Web Featres, then check the box that says "Allow websites to install software"

I selected tools/extensions and a box opened up. It's empty with buttons for Uninstall, Options and Find Updates but nothing about enable.
