Is it poor taste if someone posts www.adultdesigncontest.com in GFY contest threads?

It seems as if it is almost an attempt to shut down current contests just to get more people using the service. Provided it is a GOOD service and I think it is a GREAT idea, and finally a SAFE way to collect your winnings/work.

But if it keeps up, will GFY no longer have contest threads?

Opinions please...

Also, be sure to visit http://www.adultdesigncontest.com and check out their great minds at work. I am going to join. So should you.

Damn, that sucks.

Would you post your URL or your SIG in a GFY contest thread? That would remove the effects of any biased opinion.

Being a mainstream site, I'm already sorry I even posted Logo Wars here, as a few designers signed up and put their url to adult design sites. and some redirect to not even a design site lol..

Actually, we visited your site when you posted it to GFY and thought.. hey this idea rocks! So we spent 6 months making adultdesigncontest then stepped into our handy timemachine and went back two days before your announcement and made ours.

On a serious note, i told you in the other thread, the two contests are not mutually exclusive, which you don't seem to comprehend.
If we can offer gfy contest participants a secure environement, we are all for it, everyone wins.
Designers get secure payouts
Contest owners get even more entries to their contests,
so what's bad about that?

That site took you 6 months to develop? how long did it take you to create a new GFY account to hide under?

Design contests bring GFY mad views, and other people besides the contestors and contestees like to check out our work. If all the contest is handled at your site ie: the entries and portfolios etc. then you are the one getting the mad views now... that is just theft. You advertise your services anywhere you want, but a company in GOOD taste (and yes I do know the guy isn't directly affiliated with you - or is he?) will find it wise for themselves to stay clear of these threads, if for nothing else but integrity.

So you are fine with participating in contests, winning and not getting paid? or no winner being selected, and nobody being paid at all?

You are missing the point, nothing stops you from posting your entry in BOTH outlets. You will have MORE of a market to see your portfolio and buy your work.

Your portfolio could be seen in ADC without ever participating, you can add entries as you see fit, and get promotion for your work..
You obviously don't understand the way the system works in full capacity, and because a designer liked our system and recommended it to someone, you feel it's ok to attack us?

Dude, you have blown this thing way out of proportion, it was only a suggestion, if he kept his contest on here he would get plenty of entries, I was just suggesting it more to protect the designers (like you) from being ripped off!! That is all, the fact that there is an entire thread about this is now pretty funny! I did not mean in any way to remove his or any contest from GFY, I have been in MANY and will continue to be!

Oh, one more thing, the past few months designers have been ripped off many times and have repeatedly asked to have some sort of escrow system and alot of designers have stopped posting entries due to this, well someone came up with an idea to help, so that is the reason I pointed it out in that thread.

If you read my first post, I am NOT attacking you. I am trying to make sure we keep our contest threads on GFY without some third party coming in to trash the trend.

Also.. I DO understand the capacity and the concept of your service. I DO think it is a GREAT idea. However, I DO think you should find another avenue to attract new clientelle to your site.

That is it. All I ask.

Ahh the miracles of the tracking code. Hope you enjoy them games. Front Line Commander is good for a few days of time wasting, as long as you don't try it multiplayer, like we did a few days ago (don't work, even says it in the readme) Mobile Forces is also quite fun but again we coulnt get internet play going, guess game spy don't support it no more

and for you...

I am not blowing this thing out of proportion and I know you meant well (did you?) but I also feel this is a VERY valid thread to be started when it effects our community directly.

And I started a POLL so that we can see if it truly is of POOR TASTE!

BTW, Check out the results.

Now that is FUNNY!

it's all good, but i would not take the results of a poll from GFY too serious

That's funny!!

I see your point, but you are saying in your first post that this is the ateempt to 'it is almost an attempt to shut down current contests just to get more people using the service' which is simply not true, as i have said in my previous post.

OK, how about I retract that comment? Doesn't really effect my views as to when and where it is appropriate to post 'certain' services.

Almost like a hosting provider giving away a package for 3 months in some contest and someone jacking the thread with the same package but saying they will give you the same package FREE for 6 months if you use their hosting instead.

Well almost anyway.

Umm I would be number 2 in the see sig. I like the idea in the design contest site. But it would be nice to keep the 2 worlds seperate. Great marketing.

AdultDesign's escrow idea is much better than dealing with the occasional welch here on GFY. And as someone already said, there's nothing preventing people from entering/hosting contests on both forums.

I see GFY as an adult webmaster board. The other one is a graphics specialty forum. There's latitude between the two.

teksonline is one funny guy. He's seriously suggesting that a service that was launched before he launched his own similar program stole his idea? Hahahahaha. I hope Envision Next make a mainstream equivalent of Adult Design Contest. Give that douche something to really whine about when every potential client goes their way instead.

Those contests really get annoying as the same people are the only ones that bump them every day.Probably 80% are surfers anyways..I thought the mods are trying to limit them but they seem to be getting out of hand
