I love how it works. Personally if I had to leech on the rest of the country to pay my bills I'd feel pretty guilty.

Brad, it's pretty easy to say this when you're living with your parents.

It's fine to say 'get a job, pay your own way' but there's SO much more to it than that. What happens where there are no jobs? What happens when one can't afford an education? What happens when they can't pay their medical bills and go bankrupt? Know what happens? Crime goes up, the court system gets bogged down, the prisons are over populated. Guess who pays for that? Taxpayers.

Did your first year Polisci class teach you about that? Wouldn't it be so much easier to support a public healthcare system, education and job skills training to those who need it? Less pain and suffering along the way, fewer people getting hurt.

Get people who are using the system's resources to start working and paying INTO the system's resources. Exactly.

So long as they're not "Professional" students, USING the system.

Fxck that.

A war would cost more than any crackhead. Why don't we check back in 5 years? Liberals reduced taxes by 150billion since 1997, while paying down 70 billion in debt, saving us 3-4 billion / year in interest in the process. Harper is exactly like bush. We'll lose liberties, sink back into deficit. Canada is going to shit today

Well, by threatening violence you come off as somebody that would perhaps still be living at home. It doesn't exactly promote the notion of maturity. I know you are better than that so it does you no favours to threaten to hurt anyone much less a woman.

Take it on the chin and move on.

The only election glitch in Eastern Canada came at a polling station in New Glasgow, N.S., when a man took off with a ballot box.

Just after noon, the man ran into a polling station in the town's stadium and tried to grab two boxes. An election official snatched one, but the man made it out with the other one under his arm.

"The suspect actually went to the parking area, placed the box down on the ground and actually used his own personal vehicle [and] drove over the Elections Canada box," said Const. Ken MacDonald of New Glasgow police.

The man sped away. However, officers picked him a little while later.

Although the box was flattened, no ballots were destroyed. Scrutineers watched as the deputy returning officer transferred all of the ballots into a new box.

I wonder who he was pissed off at..

Actually, I don't 'ride' you in any way. When you make inflammatory, controversial comments, expect to be called on them. I disagree with you - suck it up like a big boy and move on.

You attempt to come off as a brash, cocky hard-ass to increase your page views and sig impressions but it only makes you look hysterical. Whining about it only makes it worse.

a conservative government doesn't always mean lower taxes. Harper wanted to send us into George Bush's little pet project war that would have cost us billions. Money has to come from somewhere. Mulroney was our last conservative prime minister (not counting kim campbell) and he bestowed us with GST, basically raised our taxes 7% right then and there...

well, the company must be funding a big % of it, bro.... i know when i worked in the USA decent coverage was 4-500.00 monthly or so for a family....that was 10 years ago too... there are a few threads here on medical insurance payments in the US, you can see why some people just cant afford it...also in eastern Canada they dont pay a monthly payment at all, they just jack up the sales tax a few points...;)

GST wasnt a new tax
it replaced a 14% manufacturers tax so canada wouldnt be at such a disadvantage for exports

Myst certainly makes more than that. :thumbsup

On the political side, both conservatives and liberals are a bunch of self-serving elitist twats, at least here they are, and regardless of who gets voted in, in most Western countries, the end policies result in almost completely the same thing.

Personally I tend to favor populist parties (i.e. nationalist and such) as they tend to shake things up a little and atleast shake some sense into a totally disconnected Government. Of course in Australia, and I geuss Canada, these parties don't have much hope, but it is positive to see their influence and strength in Europe is growing, and even without direct power many of their policies are being adopted by the ruling parties out of fear.

Brad, you may not live with your parents, but you are still a kid. That is pretty obvious by your posts. I'd be really surprised if you are even 20 years old yet.

As a kid, your ignorance cannot be held against you because you simply do not know any better. You do not know what life is all about because you have not experienced life yet. Until you get some experience you will make ignorant statements like the one above because you think it is cool and makes you look like a hard ass or something. The reality is it makes you look like an idiot, but you are too young to know that yet.

The point is you are too young to know what it is like to have a family relying on you for support. You don't know what it is like to have kids and a mortgage hanging over your head. What happens if you have an accident and can't work anymore? What happens to your kids? Everybody just gets thrown out onto the street? This is exactly the point. You cannot possibly have any empathy for people in this situation because you are still a child. And you will not understand this post because you are still a child. It's not your fault. One day you will grow up. Hopefully nothing will happen in your life to make you eat your words.
