60GB External USB Mini Hard Drives...Worth it?

Am about to buy some. Anyone have any problems?

Ja, I know but I'm talking just for storage not playing around with it.

Besides, I can get a 60gb mini drive for under $150 instead of paying some ridiculous price for an iPod

they are kinda slow.
I had problem with mine after about a month. One of my desktops would not recognize it..

I'm just saying that I use mine quite often for storage, at the moment...maybe 60% of it is storing files that aren't music.

In this case, my 60 gig mini drive also happens to be an iPod...which I didn't pay for. Didn't pay for the last 20 gig either

It's 30GB and has compact flash built in.


I looked at this one too. It's a 100 GB

Because the mini drives are easy to store and use USB or firewire, no external power source needed. I'm doing major animation and the files are HUGE. I need to transport the files as I go about.

Oh heck, they've got them at 300GB but need external power sources or batteries or some such. I can see using one for viewing animation files quickly though. But in my case I just need to store files. I have to view them on a recommended screen to check for continuity and fps etc.
