hehe, hotbot, infoseek, webcrawler, dogpile, etc. there were so many search engines to pick from back in the day that delivered decent results. now there is like 2. tho with all the spam on them its hard to get what you are actually looking for without being assaulted with seo spam.

All those other search engines died out because they decided it would be a wise strategy to use sponsored results for their 1st and 2nd pages of keywords searched. The search engines that did not get greedy and actually gave the surfer relevant non-sponsored results, flourished.
