Bin Laden offers a long term truce? WTF

Anyone else just a little more scared of the dude offering a truce? I mean, when he says he'll set fire to a city, i just laugh....but if he's calling for a truce, it almost makes me feel like their up to something.

Weird shit from a man who doesn't understand the meaning of waving a white flag.

Sure he understands the meaning of waiving the white flag.

White flag waving = Shoot in that direction.

He offered a truce YEARS AGO. Ofcourse America declined.
However, we all know the consequences.

"Stepped-up security in the U.S. hasn't prevented al-Qaeda from attacking the country since 2001, according to the man purporting to be bin Laden on the latest tape. Instead, al-Qaeda has been using the time to prepare for another assault, he said. "

This is not good

Although I don't believe in terrorism as a means to solve conflict, I think that Osama Bin Laden and all the other so-called freedom-fighters are a mere reflection of the level of financial atrocities that American business interests have inflicted in the Middle East.

Think about it... if America wasn't so oil-hungry, they would never have gotten involved in the conflicts between the Middle East nations. America likes to put it's nose in places where it doesn't belong, upsetting the cultures and belief systems of countries that have something it wants! I can easily see that in 20-25 years from now, America will be using similar tactics on Canada -- only this time citing things like the Marijuanna trade as the "God-supported reason" to attack us (when it's really going to be about Alberta oil interests).

And should that day come, I see Canadians doing everything they can think of to stop it -- maybe even resorting to terrorism!

This isn't a case of "Middle East bad, America good"... it's about escalation of a negative situation that America created in the first place. And for all of you who still think that America was just interested in the human rights issues in the region, show me where America has stepped in with such force to end human rights atrocities in areas of the world where America DOESN'T have great financial interests at stake!

I think that a truce could be successful... if both sides kept their deals! But that would mean that making money would have to become less important than living in peace -- and I don't see that happening anytime soon!

we went there for regime change, to put someone friendlier in office so we could get cheap oil....not to steal or control their oil

same basic principal though.....& yea, if someone attacked the U.S. & occupied there'd be a whole lotta white terrorists

we will decline by default, simply by continuing to occupy iraq

especially with the Iran problems looming, what better place from which to launch an attack?

Fuck Bin Laden. And the donkey he rode in on.

He's not much different different than the attention whores on GFY. He loves the attention on this point.

Let him strike out at the US again like he did on 9/11. If it happens again I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the US drops nukes on both Iran and Syria, and invades every country in Middle East still standing. Once a nuke goes off in the US the President will have a free hand to do whatever he (she?) wants, including destroying enitre countries.

Yeah, WWIII is coming folks. And this time we'll get to watch it on TV.

The reason bin Laden offered truce and warned of attack is this: It is an Islamic requirement. He believes that if he actually gives a warning then the terrorist attack will not count as a sin.

I truly don't know what to think about this anymore. On the surface a truce sounds great but let's face it, it will never happen.

Is he up to something? (think trojan horse!)
Is his back against the wall and trying to save face?
Does he see this as a week point for US and think we may take him up on offer because of the difficulties in Iraq and Iran now being discussed?

Is he just fucking playing with us and telling all his followers "I am still here and we are still in business!"?

Not really. He did publish a letter before those. Google "ladenese epistles".
Bin Laden did give a warning before every single attack.

Having just read that news story it stinks of bullshit. Personally, I cant see there being any valid truce with Bin Laden whilst US troops are in Saudi Arabia, fuck Iraq and Afghanistan.

You know the funny part is....everyone thinks 99% of americans are idiots.

Get it straight, its only 85%

The rest of us went to private school, have a 130+ iq & live in gated communities. Where we get to sit & watch the old money guys order the kids with a 90 IQ onto the battle field to retrieve the oil for our suv's.

It's not that we're stupid....we're fucking greedy. So don't get it twisted.

Who knows? If there is any foundation to claims that he wants a truce, is there any track record that he never kept to his word before?

Look at the background of people like bin Laden and many others who have fought for decades. Apart from the usual plain evil and devious mob within any assembly of people, they don't look like the type of people who break their word. They may appear deviant and warped in many ways, but they ain't stupid.

Whether Al Queda can keep their word, may be another matter since bin Laden probably don't "own" Al Queda.

If there is any truth in claims of a truce... ya gotta ask why. The answer may not be far away in that almost every "terrorist org" has eventually did a deal and both sides end up sitting at a conference table.

Dunno why... but I'd be more concerned about others keeping their word - they rarely did in the past, why now?
