Although I don't believe in terrorism as a means to solve conflict, I think that Osama Bin Laden and all the other so-called freedom-fighters are a mere reflection of the level of financial atrocities that American business interests have inflicted in the Middle East.
Think about it... if America wasn't so oil-hungry, they would never have gotten involved in the conflicts between the Middle East nations. America likes to put it's nose in places where it doesn't belong, upsetting the cultures and belief systems of countries that have something it wants! I can easily see that in 20-25 years from now, America will be using similar tactics on Canada -- only this time citing things like the Marijuanna trade as the "God-supported reason" to attack us (when it's really going to be about Alberta oil interests).
And should that day come, I see Canadians doing everything they can think of to stop it -- maybe even resorting to terrorism!
This isn't a case of "Middle East bad, America good"... it's about escalation of a negative situation that America created in the first place. And for all of you who still think that America was just interested in the human rights issues in the region, show me where America has stepped in with such force to end human rights atrocities in areas of the world where America DOESN'T have great financial interests at stake!
I think that a truce could be successful... if both sides kept their deals! But that would mean that making money would have to become less important than living in peace -- and I don't see that happening anytime soon!
