$8 a gig is good.
My ISP charges me $70 a month for my adsl.
I get 3 gig, with overage at 14 cents per MEG.
Now that sucks.
What sucks more is it's the best price I can get for broadband.

Dear Valued Member,

To keep pace with our customers' evolving Internet usage needs,
Bell Canada, like all Internet service providers, must continually
invest in expanding and upgrading our network.

Effective June 12, 2002, your monthly rate for Bell Sympatico
High Speed Edition(TM) Internet service will increase to $44.95 --
still one of the lowest rates for high speed access in North America.

Also, effective June 12, 2002, your monthly rate for Sympatico
High Speed Edition service will allow 5 Gigabytes (GB) download
and 5 Gigabytes (GB) upload of bandwidth activity. If your
bandwidth activity exceeds either 5 GB download or 5 GB upload,
an additional charge of $7.95 per GB will be applied to your
Sympatico account. Based on your Internet activity patterns
over the past 3 months, this charge will probably not affect
you.

I just networked my connection too, maybee thats why

I didn't get it yet either. Is it only sending to the primary email on the account? Or maybe its just still being sent out..

The sad thing is, there's really not many other options. Rogers is the only one, and I think they're just as bad. They're also going to be putting caps in for sure now. All of the other companies just resell the Bell lines, it's not any better.

DSL Reports Canadian Broadband Forum

Great forum there. Lots of info about this and some info on other broadband ISPs in Ontario. Seems that they all just resell Bell's lines though.. Bell and Rogers are the only real choices.

Sucks for you Canadians. I love my cable ISP. $30/month unlimited download/upload. I download at 1MEG (1000KB)/sec and upload at 125KB/sec. That's KB and MB, not kb and mb. I downloaded Netscape Communicator in about 18 seconds.

Optimum Online rules!

This is nuts! $8/gig ?? holly shit. I'm really happy I have rogers now. Hopefully they wont do the same shit sympatico did. I think they are just tired of all those people being 24/7 on P2P share programs, etc.

Are they going to provide you with stats, so you can see how much traffic you have used?
