Sympatico DSL Users?
You guys see this latest email? Not only are they jacking our prices up, but we get charged $8/gig overage
|
$8 a gig is good.
My ISP charges me $70 a month for my adsl. I get 3 gig, with overage at 14 cents per MEG. Now that sucks. What sucks more is it's the best price I can get for broadband. |
in nova scotia we pay like 50 bux a month canadian for dsl. i have a package deal, so its actually like 35-40 or something dumb
|
I didnt get the email... what does it say exactly?
|
Dear Valued Member,
To keep pace with our customers' evolving Internet usage needs, Bell Canada, like all Internet service providers, must continually invest in expanding and upgrading our network. Effective June 12, 2002, your monthly rate for Bell Sympatico High Speed Edition(TM) Internet service will increase to $44.95 -- still one of the lowest rates for high speed access in North America. Also, effective June 12, 2002, your monthly rate for Sympatico High Speed Edition service will allow 5 Gigabytes (GB) download and 5 Gigabytes (GB) upload of bandwidth activity. If your bandwidth activity exceeds either 5 GB download or 5 GB upload, an additional charge of $7.95 per GB will be applied to your Sympatico account. Based on your Internet activity patterns over the past 3 months, this charge will probably not affect you. I just networked my connection too, maybee thats why |
I didn't get it yet either. Is it only sending to the primary email on the account? Or maybe its just still being sent out..
The sad thing is, there's really not many other options. Rogers is the only one, and I think they're just as bad. They're also going to be putting caps in for sure now. All of the other companies just resell the Bell lines, it's not any better. |
:feels-hot WTF!!!!!!
that sux but im gonna cancel before that cause im going on vacation Bell never again. Im gonna switch... Any recommendations other then ROGERS? |
Yeah it was sent to my primary account! yeah rogers sucks ass, tech support is brutal and the speeds get slower and slower ugh.... yeah nothing else in ontario for DSL that I know of

DSL Reports Canadian Broadband Forum
Great forum there. Lots of info about this and some info on other broadband ISPs in Ontario. Seems that they all just resell Bell's lines though.. Bell and Rogers are the only real choices. :( |
Ahhh this is shit. I am on Bell DSL as well... I upload and download a ton of stuff. My monthly internet connection bill will be herrnedous!

This is why I went to a T1

I used Rogers for 3.5 year and it become reall shitty. I have DSL for 1 year and now this "premium stuff" - I think regular package will be shit
|
I'm on the west coast (the best coast) and we have Shaw out here and it kicks ass biatch!
Super quick and no download limits. Ontario sucks, move to BC! |
Premium is 119 / month for unlmited fuck that.... gotta be some sort of grandfather clause because when I signed up, I signed for unlimited at 40 a month
|
Sucks for you Canadians. I love my cable ISP. $30/month unlimited download/upload. I download at 1MEG (1000KB)/sec and upload at 125KB/sec. That's KB and MB, not kb and mb. I downloaded Netscape Communicator in about 18 seconds. :Graucho :Graucho
Optimum Online rules! -eru |
This is nuts! $8/gig ?? holly shit. I'm really happy I have rogers now. Hopefully they wont do the same shit sympatico did. I think they are just tired of all those people being 24/7 on P2P share programs, etc.
Are they going to provide you with stats, so you can see how much traffic you have used? |
theyre going to provide you with the BILL at the end of the month :)
|
how much does my t1 cost?
costs just a bit more than sdsl but then again I am in San Diego! One of the most wired cities in the us! |
