Why is the concept so hard for you to grasp. You can be a resident of a country without being a citizen. As far as the tax department is concerned, if you are a resident you pay the taxes, citizen or not. And if you are a resident of a country you are bound by its laws, citizen or not.

So why do you need to be a citizen of any country? To vote? To get drafted? Why?

It has been used on passports from many countries in many years, and just a type of identification.

In fact its more democratic than signatures, because not all people can't write :)

Because you have to in one form or another.

Now try and grasp that.

I'm not the one having problems becoming NOT a citizen of anywhere. :1orglaugh

kenny 01-17-2006 01:10 AM

Why you are at it..

why not just make your properity a sovereign nation so you can be a citizen of your OWN country :1orglaugh

My dear fellow... I am not having any problems being not a citizen of anywhere either.

What gave you that idea? You got some problem with citizenship?

But of course not you don't even pay taxes..

I would think that you would have some form of nationality or citizenship thats recongized.

Now IF what you say is true - imagine if everybody did that. There wouldn't be income for national governemnts to even run on.

I'm neither my husband nor his attorney. So I really can't point to a specific law. However I can say that we are now into about 3 large boxes of paperwork. And our home has an entire shelf filled with legal texts and such.

My closest guess I can figure is that the money is asked in the same way a bank asks for money if you try to pay off your mortgage early.

I'm really not the person that should be discussing this. If you want I can put you in touch with Hammy.

Excuse if I missed a bit along the line but is there any problem simply having dual nationality?

He can have dual citizenship. That's NOT a problem and it has been offered to him. Many times!

He does NOT want ANY citizenship at all. Not Canadian, French, British, American or any. He wants the right to be stateless.

He does not want to be French or Canadian or citizen of any other country.

I hear his words all the time in our home . (Especially when he talks to someone on the phone.) And it is written on a piece of on our office wall.

"It's my life and I will live it where I want and how I want. I will live it free and not be owned by anyone or anything."

And you know...
My opinion on this is, ookaay...
It's a useless fight.
But since he isn't hurting anyone...
What's the problem? Let him go!

Somebody explain why you can't just do this instead.

This would be way better then just NOT being a citizen

You still haven't answered my question. If you are a resident of a country and pay taxes, follow laws, and are accounted for in the sense that the government knows who you are and that you exist, then why do you need citizenship?

Correct.. I don't pay taxes.

Yes, I do have "some form of nationality that's recognized".

And thirdly... it is true. Would this upset your applecart and the basis of human existance as you know it if everyone did the same? :1orglaugh

It would effect the world as WE know it.

Ironically the same "no tax" regime seems to do better or equal to major economies when it comes to basics like health and education. There may be a lesson in that for ya. :winkwink:

Give me a break. If nobody paid taxes I know of atleast one country that will fall apart.

And the results of that would be more then enough to cripple the world economy

You can't be trusted to have NO citizenship or recongized nationality - you need to be monitored

How is that for reverse psychology

If it's an ambition and he's got time and money for his "hobby", hell, good luck to him! :)

There are a growing number of people obviously intent in either moving out of what may be described as "civilized countries" and to places with more freedoms and other benefits. Some obviously become nationals and others just residents, but the underlying reasons seem somewhat the same as your husbands aims ie "escape from civilization".

That's a pity. Then ya need to change it and build fences up to keep folks escaping and keep them at home to pay taxes.

Can you stop trolling the thread with bullshit comments? There might be some "would you hit it" threads around elsewhere to distract ya. :winkwink:

unbelievable

You really don't have a clue.

It's obvious that reality is on my side :1orglaugh

The only bullshit comments I see bro - are yours :winkwink:

Have fun constructing this dream world of yours in your head. Because that is the only place you're ever going to see it.

It really does sound like quite the place. A world with no taxes and all. :1orglaugh

I don't know if you were trying to be funny - but thanks for the laugh

Oh God.. who breeds them.

I live in what you designated this dream world idiot - and see it every day and do not pay taxes for the reason already stated. Are you totally dumb that you just don't comprehend??

I never suggested anything about the world taxation system and don't give a fuck about it either.

Go and find a "would you hit it" thread and don't try to be the world's economist.. it's embarassing. :1orglaugh
