Site translation & its affect on tracking ref links

online translation links found at search pages, etc. when a visitor is using these to visit your pages, does it fuck up the tracking for sales, or mess up reflinks? The links work & go to the right pages, but there's code in the string for translation. I have alot of japanese traffic that uses google translation & i was wondering how this translation will affect tracking & sales. When the visitor clicks the reflink, the site they visit will also be translated.

here's an example of GFY translated into japanese.

i would think a translation tool wouldn't translate urls , only readable content, if it translated urls it would never work..

No, it does not translate the url, but it adds a string of code to the url.

for example, here is the actual reflink http://www.hostave3.net/hvw/fhg/h22/index.html?3684
which after going through the translation ends up being a completely different string;

http://216.239.37.104/translate_c?hl...004-07,GGLD:en

the url is kind of long, so see status bar to see what I am talking about.

?3684 becomes %3f3684

%3f is the same as ?, encoded vs not encoded. Not a biggy, many html editors will do this for spaces, question marks, quotes, etc.. The browser will translate it correctly, and your site probably will too.

If you are worried about the tracking, just check that the epoch post has the webmaster ID.
