For a start, most whales aren't "normal" affiliates. True whales make unbeleivable sales doing things you will never even think of trying. And they aren't about to tell you how to do it either.
Secondly, most whales aren't interested in prizes or rewards. They are making so much they don't need to. They would happily accept $5 extra per sale but mostly they don't giveafuck. I think most of the prizes and incentives are aimed at the smaller webbies who think they have a chance of acheiving something. Thirdly, someone give me a PSP! |
Ultimately, it's all relative. It depends on how much the other webmasters in the program make, how well the program converts, and how many other webmasters are out there. The best programs are the ones that provide ENHANCED VALUE to volume producers WHILE giving the same quality of support to smaller producers as larger producers. When I say ENHANCED VALUE I mean enhanced payouts, special payment arrangements, supercustomized materials, etc. Quality support should be maintained regardless of size, however. Quality support means: 24/7 assistance, promotion support, webmaster tools support, payment / payout customer service, traffic assesment, content strategy, etc etc.

A whale is relative to each program.
There can only be a few whales in each program, else it won't be a whale anymore - just an average top affiliate. A whale could be the #10 account gross revenue multiplied with 3. Or rather the average of top 10-15 times 3. There should be 50 active webmasters before this rule apply. I don't run a program, so could some of the program owners verify or decline this theory? |
100 sign ups per month is a good number! (at least for me)
