Dreamhost upgrades intro plan to 1 TB transfer a month for 8 bucks.

1000 GB transfer a month, increases by 8 GB/mo for as long as you stay.

20 GB disk storage, lots of other features. Great referral program (see the sig).

I was actually looking into that earlier today. The code monster plan could replace my dedicated server and would save me a nice chunk of change.

I don't know if it expires but all their current customers got upgraded. I've been with them about a year and the only time they went down was during the downtown LA blackout this summer for about 2 or 3 hours. Other than that, if you keep a backup of your site elsewhere, it's a really good deal. I was having to watch my bandwidth, now I can relax and just get the traffic.

It`s quite a good deal.I`ve got a virtual plan with them and got my bandwidth tripled too.
Their support response time is lacking though (can take up to 24 hours) and their virtual plans have some restricting security measures that will break some scripts (Vanilla TGP for one).Dont know if their dedicated servers also have such restrictions.
But 4 TB of BW for $150 a month is a pretty good deal.

I focus more on the marketing side of things. So what I like is I can get 5 times the traffic as I could a few days ago for the same money. Maybe I'll buy some traffic from Joe or Choker now.

I used them for more than a year... they're good for family accounts, but not for business.. they don't have the stability..
a lot of TGP's also don't find dreamhost hosted galleries fast enough...

Good deal, but it looks like they're fighting to catch up though. I'm very happy with my hosting company (much better features) so I'll stay. From what I've heard anyways, Dreamhost is extremely unstable with average to bad customer service. So I wouldn't switch anyways.

Just get a dsl line with a i.p. and offer unlimited bandwidth on a dual xeon, I'm sure some suckers will sign up and you can fit about 1000 accounts on there. Reboot from your house so it's never down too long.

Good luck

I just found a promo code for $97 off your bill. So I went through the checkout for their cheapest plan. One year for $120 total. Tried the cupon code and sure enough the total is down to $22 for one year of hosting.

Thats 1 terabyte of transfer each month for less than $2 per month. Do the math. Less than a quarter of one cent per gig.

WAKE THE FUCK UP.

The exact cost is $0.0018 per gig.

signed up for dreamhost during their 7 year special. got a year for $9. Nice to see me get upgraded! I wouldn't recommend hosting anything mission critical as they do have downtime, email, database, etc. not enough to make a big deal out of for what I pay though.

I posted a thread on this yesterday, but the responses weren't quite as critical.

Anywho, I've been with them for a few months (since August), and I haven't had any problems with them. There hasn't been any bogdown on their servers yet, despite all the b/w their giving away. My site still loads just as quickly as any other.

Sure you shouldn't run something like GFY on it, but IMO it's good for any tgp, mpg, freesite, etc.

Also, baddog, in case you were referring to my post when you said ANOTHER spammer, I wasn't spamming, I was informing people of a good hosting deal. It really was informative and useful for any webmaster who doesn't want to spend 100's on hosting. If you have a host, and are deadset on not switching, then why did you even click the thread?!?

I don't mean to get on your case...but if you're not interested simply don't click the link.

later
c-lo

bandwidth is good but don't use them for important sites. just like lunar pages in this respect - sounds good in theory, but not necessarily in reality. both seem to have a habit of yanking "busy" sites from their servers without warning

jjjay, yep.. if your site is too busy they will drop you. they could offer UNLIMITED bandwidth and you won't have the chance to use it anyway.

It a shady business plan to oversell bandwidth and yank the sites that's actually start to use it. But it works and people support it, like the people on this thread. So it's not the businesses fault they are just doing business. And most of the new comer sites don't use hardly any bandwidth so they get plenty of continuing business.

It's a common business plan with hosting companies, but very shady. Just depends in what you think is right I guess.
