Be careful, we had one coming up to our door every night and 3 nights ago it bit my girl on the ankle very slightly. She had to go to the hospital and they reported it to the animal control. In turn the animal control had to trap the little guy and have him euthanized in order to extract his brain and have it sent off for a rabies test.

Was a very sad day for us because we really enjoyed watching him.

Ah that sucks

He seems to be keeping his distance for the most part. I'm not going to feed it too. The cool thing is, I think he really did kinda moved in... He brought over this flat blue bouncy ball. He grabs it and runs up the tree then toss's it, back and forth, back and forth. It's like having a dog that climbs tree's

If you let him in your house "he will" get into any food he wants no matter what you do. If he does start scavenging through your food you may have to get rid of him or leave food outside for him. I know they like Oreo cookies a lot

we have a family of them in the tops of the trees lining our property. I'll be sitting on the patio enjoying a cigar and coffee and you can hear them running around overhead... cute lil animals. Just don't corner em or let them near the youngins. They'll make a mess of your dog too if it corners one of em!

Watch out for your cats and dogs, if you have any. A cornered raccoon is quite able to kill animals its size and larger, and they're hella smart. ie: lock your garbage cans, don't leave the bbq unattended, and lock your pet doors.

How cute... we have a whole family of them lurking around our house. I'm surprised that one isn't hibernating?

Ok check this out - I got my son a puppy from the pound for xmas (killed 2 birds with one stone... saved the dogs life and made the kid REAL happy hehe) - He's a mut Dachshund / Chihuahua mix. Small dog so I had to fix up my iron gate with some plastic chickenwire.

All is cool, the dog can't get out, UNTIL LAST NIGHT - The racoon must have got pissed cuz he tore the chickenwire up and basically ripped it down!

Anyone know how to keep a racoon away without calling the local shelter? When I picked up the dog I told them about the racoon. They said they HAVE to put all racoons to sleep no matter what. So I'm not calling them in for sure

I updated his picture in regards to last night fandango:
