Does in USA/UK number 888 is associated with gambling or games? I have noticed that many online gambling sites are using 888... Or it's more toll free number?

i think 8 is a chinese lucky number, not so much a western thing. I know in Vancouver about 10 years ago there was a big housing boom fueled by people immigrating from HK and all the developers were trying to get street addresses with as many 8's as possible because they could charge a premium for it. 888 whatever st is very common. similiarly 4 was avoided because it sounds like "death", so you'll see apartment buildings that skip 4th floor (like how most buildings don't have a 13th floor). the last place i lived in vancouver was missing 4, 13, 14, 24, and 34.

chinese (and other asian cultures) assign luck to the number 8 much in the same way that americans have "lucky 7". Combinations of the number 8 are considered a good sign, lucky...
